We couldn’t tell how pleased we are to welcome Julius "the Mad Thinker" here on IDMW.Com. Not only because we’ve ended up reaching each other at the very last call (those who know the problems we’ve had with our Internet links will understand…), but first and foremost because he’s one of the smartest guys and best DJ’s I’ve ever come to meet… An dit pretty much looks like I’m not the only one, judging by all the buzz currently made in his Chicago hometown around his weekly 3° Global Sessions at Zentra Nightclub alongside Monna & FLX…

Quite hard not to be caught up by Stacy Kidd’s blends. A guy whose explosive cocktails are to be considered as the contemporary response to the pioneering DIY Chicago approach consisting of blending everything (as long as it’s soulful and groovy) over some house beats. This already vet who’s been around for nearly a decade and a ½ dropping jams on labels such as Yellorange, Peacefrog and Dancemania to name but a (very) phew looks like pretty well decided to gain some mo’ credits this year…

Is the some time called New Jersey Sound to resurface following the footsteps of those glorious works from Tony Humphries, Smack Productions and Kerri Ka-os Chandler back in da daze ? A whole bunch of new activists looks like firmly working on it, including Duron Turik & Tyrone Payton who’ve joined forces under the Lefunken moniker. Expect them to drop what it takes this afternoon alongside Mina and Deepa @ the Sagamore Hotel. Check dis out ! 

The least to be said about EMan is that he’s been… banging the parties (those of you coming outta NYC will understand wot I’m sayin’) for quite some time, havin’ this in common with Kerri Chandler that he’s also able to… e-M Cee as well as singing on what he plays. Nuff reasons to see him spinnin’ @ nearly the 4 corners of S. Beach dis year and have him on board.

We getcha out of those usual spots like NYC, Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit and the likes for a quick ride to the capital of Georgia. A city which would make quite a name for itself in the history of the Afromerican society, being the hometown of the late Reverend Martin Luther King amongst others. But also quite a prolific place in terms of Black music should it be R&B, hip hop and (eventually) house, with people such as Chris Brann (Ananda Project), Justin & Kemit, not to mention Kai Yuri Alce who, with his 7 years residency at MJQ Concourse, keeps da vibe alive…

The pressure climbs up a bit more as days go by here in Miami having us ready to attend one of the biggest events of this year’s Conf’ by the likes of NYC Clubshelter’s first ever reunion in the Sunshine State as a part of their 14th Year celebrations. The ideal opportunity for us to pay them our tribute via excerpts of an interview that we’ve managed to have with Timmy Regisford back at the end of 2000.

Awaited to spin tonite alongside  Jellybean Benitez, Marlon D and Osunlade at Ain’t Nuttin’ But A House Party comes quite an atypical pal. A man who, to many of those who’ve never heard of him B4, might stand as a cameleon, judging by his daytime activities as… Supervising Health Inspector at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene ! As for the others, he’s the one who’s put shape to this regular gathering of visual artists, song stylists, photographers, disc-jockeys, poets and dancers known as The Melting Pot NYC…

Long time NYC jocks/producer, DJ Romain is not only a talented track maker (remember his many works under the Romatt guise alongside Matt Keys amongst others). He is also once of the nicest face hailing from our scene, always ready to please the ones who show him love. The latest are quite numerous at the end of the day (nite), judging by the numerous places he is scheduled to make an appearance behind the decks this week in Miami. But this first has to be taken as a recognition of his awesome talent. Gotta believe this peeps, dis man’s got da groove… I’m Serious !

Well, no need to have an enormous knowledge of the US house diaspora when saying that Miami has never been that active in terms of contemporary music production, apart from what is known as Miami Bass and those controverted hip hop experiences of triple X-rated 2 Live Crew. Hopefully, the situation has changed a bit along those last months with the contributions of people such as Pierre Zonzon with his SFP label, the promoters of Aquabooty and their residents (incl. Djinji Brown) and Ron D*8*Lim with his numerous residencies in the city and a whole bunch of events that he has set up during this week. Those words are his.
