Interviews: MIAMI - FRANKE ESTEVEZ & GEORGE MENA: TOGETHER AS ONE
|
Hailing from NJ Franke Estevez & George Mena are no doubt amongst the most interesting faces which have come to the attention over the last months/years. You may also remember George’s name for being responsible of the production of one our Miami favs a couple of years ago by the likes of Treena Rose’s ’Tell Me All About it’. Meanwhile Franke represents the pair behind the decks. No doubt, those two were made to work together. Ladies & gents, welcome Fuzion!

Interviews: MIAMI - JON CUTLER: MUSIC WAS MY FIRST LOVE...
|
Our guest today is none other than the perfect exemple of a man who’s decided to remain true to who he is against all odds. A man dedicated to death to what he loves as he admits thereafter. And what he loves, he does it well as demonstrated by the whole bunch of productions and remixes that he’s done over the years. Now kidz, for our greatest pleasure : the Distant NYC man, Jon Cutler !

Interviews: MIAMI - RASHAAN HOUSTON: A TRUE WARRIOR
|
Things happen at some time quite curiously. While putting the final touches to this week’s display, just received a message from a man talking about new releases of his he was to promote in Miami... I then asked him to sent me snippets which he did almost instantly. And you know what? I got like waow ! This should turn many headz and asses upside down at those big parties like Soul On The Beach! And as it it wasn’t enuff I suddenly got back to this man’s name while havin’ a look at his bio, remembering that I licenced a song of an outfit – The Pound Boys, to be more precise - he was the guest vocalist of on a comp of mine a few years ago. Funny how the world happens to be quite small at the end of the day…

LABEL SCAN: MIAMI - 13 YEARS OF KING STREET
|
NYC King Street house label has recently turned 13, makin’ it the longest independant structure in activity, hot on the heels of the defunct Strictly Rhythm & Nervous. Nuff reasons for us here on IDMW.Com to wish KS team a happy B-day and have a little conv by the likes of this 13 Q’s list adressed to CEO Hisa Ishioka and try to get to know if he’s ever got a recipe…

Interviews: MIAMI - RON TRENT : AFRICA (DUBBED) HI FI
|
Better nuttin’ than insignifiancy. As opposed to the whole bunch of common machines which have come to be a part of our daily life, made to instantly execute orders, human creativity would often give its very best when left in the approriate environment. In other words, space, time and surrounding which obviously is the case regarding Ron Trent who, after some hyperactive period in the beg of the 2000’s, has taken some time while relocating to his Chicago hometown in order to gather the necessary pieces for a winning return. Elements of explanation thereafter...

Interviews: MIAMI - STEAL VYBE : GIVE THE VIBE A LIVE!
|
No doubt as when it comes to art and (good) taste, how a few people have it and a whole bunch of others don’t. As for the rest, it’s no more than a matter of skills that U develop while U work. That’s most likely where are to be found Chris ‘Cee Rule’ Forman and Damon ‘Mr Dizzy Fingers’ Bennett who, under their Steal Vybe guise, count amongst the most creative forces which have emerged along the last months…

Interviews: MIAMI - WIL MILTON: MUSIC IS MY WAY OF LIFE!
|
We’re glad to welcome for the very first time on those pages a man who’s made quite some waves over the last months/years with top quality grooves, from Wave Music to West End, not to mention King Street and Vega Records more recently. No doubt, he’s the personification of today’s peeps sitting in the chair of a producer, dealing with almost everything by his own, should it be the vibes with undeniable skills as the technology with a real know how. Awaited to perform live tomorrow at Jazid, ladies and gents, please make some noise for… Wil Milton!

Interviews: MIAMI - MUEMA : BOUNCE... HOUSE, SKATE, ROLL!
|
Nuttin’ better than compare opinions as far as the subject of a common interest is concerned. Most of you should know/have heard of him for droppin’ snippets on our various forums – incl. ours - under the BigHaus guise. Truly devoted to his passion (house music), he eventually gave birth to one of the most interesting dedicated websites around by the likes of bouncefm.com. The Miami festivities bein’ just around the bent, we’ve managed to have him in the opposite position as his usual one, occupying the interviewee’s seat. Ladies & gents: please welcome Muema…

Interviews: DJ’S ON THE LIST : JULIUS ‘THE MADTHINKER’
|
We couldn’t tell
how pleased we are to welcome Julius "the Mad Thinker" here on
IDMW.Com. Not only because we’ve ended up reaching each other at the
very last call (those who know the problems we’ve had with our Internet links
will understand…), but first and foremost because he’s one of the smartest guys
and best DJ’s I’ve ever come to meet… An dit pretty much looks like I’m not the
only one, judging by all the buzz currently made in his Chicago hometown around
his weekly 3° Global Sessions at Zentra Nightclub alongside Monna & FLX…

Interviews: DJ’S ON THE LIST : STACY KIDD
|
Quite hard not
to be caught up by Stacy Kidd’s blends. A guy whose explosive cocktails
are to be considered as the contemporary response to the pioneering DIY Chicago
approach consisting of blending everything (as long as it’s soulful and groovy)
over some house beats. This already vet who’s been around for nearly a decade
and a ½ dropping jams on labels such as Yellorange, Peacefrog and Dancemania to
name but a (very) phew looks like pretty well decided to gain some mo’ credits
this year…

Interviews: DJ’s ON THE LIST : KAI ALCE
|
We getcha out of those usual spots like NYC, Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit and the likes for a quick ride to the capital of Georgia. A city which would make quite a name for itself in the history of the Afromerican society, being the hometown of the late Reverend Martin Luther King amongst others. But also quite a prolific place in terms of Black music should it be R&B, hip hop and (eventually) house, with people such as Chris Brann (Ananda Project), Justin & Kemit, not to mention Kai Yuri Alce who, with his 7 years residency at MJQ Concourse, keeps da vibe alive…

Interviews: DJ’S ON THE LIST : KERVYN MARK
|
Awaited to spin tonite alongside Jellybean Benitez, Marlon D
and Osunlade at Ain’t Nuttin’ But A House Party comes quite an
atypical pal. A man who, to many of those who’ve never heard of him B4, might
stand as a cameleon, judging by his daytime activities
as… Supervising Health Inspector at the New
York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene ! As for the others, he’s the
one who’s put shape to this regular gathering of visual artists, song stylists,
photographers, disc-jockeys, poets and dancers known as The Melting Pot NYC…
