Exactly one month on before having the countless tribes of the
worldwide house nation hustlin in the streets of Miami to attend the annual
celebration of the genre. What is it to expect this year ? Well, nothing but
what we’re all individually gonna decide to bring over there. Not only in terms
of new material, productionwise. But also and more widely what’s gonna be made
out of it in the months to come in order to give it the maximum amount of
exposure and subsequently the biggest impact…
Enough of those good resolutions remaining untransformed in the facts from a
year to another. It’s widely time to act as adults, people responsible of our
respective businesses and have a long term view of the thangz. Is Miami to be
considered solely as an intermezzo having people partying all night long,
exchanging new pieces of plastic and tanning under the sun ? C’mon peeps !
Doesn’t our movement deserve much more that that ? Aren’t you ready/disposed
each of you to pay your own contribution while considering it the way it should
be ? in other words, as the biggest opportunity being given to you to solidy
your contacts on a worldwide scale, networking and subsequently finding allied
to become your ambassadors once the festivities are over ?
We all know how this has been the sparkle in
the minds of those who’ve given birth to our Florida gathering, although it’s
obviously not their preoccupation anymore, as recently said by Andy Ward
of Soul Central, putting us back to the memory of those moments we used
to spend together back in those good ol’ daze around the pool at the
Fontainebeau-Hilton. And what happened since ? Exactly the contrary to the basic
principle of having us there both at the same time and the same area, taking
time to count ourselves, know each other more and subsequently having us working
on common projects. So let me ask you humbly once more : isn’t what Miami’s made
for ??? And if not, is this realistic to have us invest so much time, energy (and
$) for so little to happen on such conditions ?
Well, you’ve
guessed it. Our movement is to become what each of us’s gonna make of it,
whoever we are : artists, producers, DJ’s, label managers, promoters, scribes
and radio broadcasters, altogether as one !
Of course, it’s
cool to spend a week over there, but is this supposed to be holidays ? Good
time, for sure, but after what’s going to be my 10th consecutive year going
there, I’d like to figure that it’s (much) more than that, don’t you ? MFSB
