Preview : MILESART ORCHESTRA "Better Times EP" (Ibiza Soulstice Music/CD Promo)
Ibiza Soulstice
Music is the brand new label launched by Joan Ribas Ferrer.
The first release is a four track EP by the Milesart Orchestra featuring
music inspired by 70's soul, jazz and funk grooves. "Something coloured" comes
with a stompin' beat, deeply funkin' bassline (think of "Papa Was A Rolling
Stone") and sweet melodies on top. "Funkoff (deep love to Isa)" is a fantastic
afterhours track based around a deeply stormin' groove and features a jazzy
instrumentation together with a funky guitar. "Gotta Make You Move" starts with
a lovely intro before the drivin' groove kicks in and the jazzy saxophone, funky
guitar and soulful vocals create an irresistible feeling. Lastly we've got the
title track "Better Times", which is a midtempo groover spreading a laidback
feeling through the jazz-funk vibes.
KING BRITT
presents SCUBA featuring LIZZ FIELDS "Our Time" (Slip'N'Slide/CD Promo)
Slip'N'Slide
Records have just started a new compilation series called Jazzmental
with King Britt presenting the first selection that includes his own
production "Our Time" which features soul singer Lizz Fields. She
delivers a soulful vocal performance over a deep bassline and piano driven
groove added with sweet percussion, strings and melodic keys on the 'Funke Mix'
while the 'Sunrise Mix' is stripped of the beats and percussion. The remix
included is courtesy of Mikale Nordgren under his Tiger Stripes
moniker and comes with smoothly stompin beats, superb flute and Afro elements
added to the original instrumentation, giving the track an irresistible feeling.
MARTIN EAST
PROJECT featuring LADY SA' "Neverending" (Binary Soul Records 12")
This is the
debut release for the brand new Binary Soul imprint produced by Martin East,
Jake DeVere and Tom Meredith featuring vocals by Lady Sa'.
Their original mix is a downbeat chiller with gentle horns, lazy beats and the
sublime female vocals. Jon Cutler delivers a deep and delicious take with
a superb piano line, pusling bassline groove, spaced-out keys and shuffling
house beats while John Beltran serves a latin rework with John Arnold
providing an extra guitar line along the sumoothly bumpin', percussive groove.
TOM * JOY
featuring TONY ALLEN "Antigua" (Yellow Productions)
Formerly known
as Tom & Joyce, the pair back with the first single taken from their second long
player. "Antigua" is a delightful Afro-Latin jaunt featuring former Fela Kuti
drummer Tony Allen who augments the contemporary brazilian song with his
infectious Afrobeat drums. Bob Sinclar provides the 'Amour Kefe' remix
which is more acurate for some club play.
JOVONN
"Blacque Houze Samplestrumental" (NextMoov Trax)
This is the
second sampler for the forthcoming "Blacque Houze" album featuring two
instrumentals courtesy of the one and only JoVonn. Both tracks are on a
deep underground vibe, featuring extended organ solos and wicked keys, creating
hypnotic grooves that keep it soulful and are perfect to rock the dancefloors.
CAROLYN
HARDING "Pick It Up" (King Street)
The 1995 King
Street classic gets updated with some phat new mixes from Distant Music head
Jon Cutler. His new mixes come with a thick dubby bassline and and great
keyboards courtesy of Martino Lozej, with Carloyn Harding's voice
sitting perfectly on top. The dub features extra syncopated keys that create a
soulful, tweaked-out organ ride. Also included are the classic Kerri Chandler
'Original Club' and 'Free Fall Reprise' mixes.
COPYRIGHT
featuring IMAANI "Time" (Defected/CD Promo)
Defected
do have a bomb in their hands here that is set to hit big time at this year’s
Winter Music Conference. Copyright team up with female singer Imaani
to drop a soulful production coming with a smoothly bumpin' groove full of
warm melodies and the sweet and sexy voice of the aforementioned. The
'Main Mix' is also present as a vocal-reduced 'Take Time Dub', then there is the
tougher 'Back in Time Dub' which is perfect for peak time. Jon Cutler
injects a classic vibe on his take, giving the track a more laidback, very
melodic feeling.
DEEP INFLUENCE "Pachanga"/"Asi" (deVICE/CD Promo)
Deep
Influence
are back on deVICE Records with this two
tracker spreading latin flavors onto the danceflloor. The first track is
"Pachanga" coming on a tougher edge that is perfect for the bigger floors,
featuring a catchy horn riff and aggressive drum patterns. Compared to
"Pachanga", the second track "Asi" is much smoother and is loaded with
percussion, synth stabs and vocal snippets and comes complete with a smooth
bassline. Also included are bonus beats of both tracks.
DAVID MORALES
with TAMRA KEENAN "Here I am" (DefMix/Ultra Records 12")
After the
massive "How Would U feel", David Morales returns with "Here I am"
featuring a superb vocal performance from Tamra Keenan that is backed by
stabbing synth, warm chords and stellar strings that are all layered over a
classic late night groove. Full Intention provide a set of throbbing
mixes with deeply storming beats that are on a slightly progressive tip while
Kaskade comes up with a pumping mix with spheric keys and a lovely guitar.
If you're looking for the David Morales dub, you'll have to buy the
italian 2x12" on Airplane Records, while the UK release contains his reprise
version.
