Politics Of Dancing: STRONGER TOGETHER
Posted on Monday, March 21 @ 18:27:19 CET by mfsb

M3

Well, well well… By the time you’re gonna read this, we’ll be by the sunny shores of Florida, getting ourselves ready to attend this much awaited event better known as the Conference which, as a matter of fact, starts no later than tomorrow ! An event which is to mark the entry of indamix (previously a weekly newsletter before becoming a monthly issue and giving its name to the site you’re currently linked with) in its third year of activities. And although many things have changed since, fragilizing a bit more our scene, our philosophy remains the same having us in the aim to provide its actors and supporters with the antidote to it. And you gotta believe this : there’s nothing like being together to become stronger…

Yes, yes, yes… No that easy to change one’s mind after so many years spent on one’s own. This said, sometimes comes a period in one’s life where you’ve got to evolve and subsequently get rid of your usual reflexes. And it’s pretty much like what we’re all currently living at the time with no or so little links between us. As often asked on these columns since our day 1, is this any realistic if not reliable to keep on having most of us doing things on their own ? History speaks for itself, having a countless amount of us becoming a part of the past from a year to another.

I’d be very much tempted to say that it’s now really time to leave all those prophecies behind and give them a proper materialization. In other words, as sung some 10 years ago by James Howard : time to wake up as what we need is unity and forget about this suicidical individualism which has been our way of living for so long.

We’re really gotta have to learn each other, respect each other and share with each other whenever we have to. Some of us have already started on this way – I’m mainly thinking about Louie Vega but he’s not the only one – and what they’ve achieved should be a good illustration of what might happen when opening our eyes, hearts and minds. C’mon, it’s never that much to take some time and listen to what the other has on offer and vice versa as the best way to stay where we’re currently at with no hope of real evolution is keep on doin’ nothing.

How could anything grow when not having the necessary food ? And what is true for you – making yourself a decent living while enjoying what you love to do at most – is nuttin’ but the same for all of us here, should we be artists, DJ’s, producers, scribes, promoters, record retailers or simply fans ; differently said, a whole system, unable to survive with no interactions between its various components.

Whatever might be said, we’re pretty much in the same bath folks. So what we should pretty well be inspired to do is sorting deals with each other allowing us altogether to gain benefits from the advantages that each of us has on offer, then make OUR thing grow.

What I can simply repeat is that all the ones who’ve contributed to make IDMW.Com what it is nowadays have done it with the sole purpose of providing our whole community with the best exposure. So what we expect from you as a natural return is no less to contribute to its growth in providing us with your infos at the most acurate time, thus allowing us to do our part of the deal (our job) in the best conditions.

It’s as simple as that… MFSB
