Kenny Bobien
"Set them free" (Soundmen on Wax Records 2x12" Promo)
We haven't heard
from Soundmen on Wax in a while, but now they are back with fantastic Jephte
Guillaume remixes of Kenny Bobien's "Set them free", a beautiful cover version
of this timeless Sting written song. Jephte Guillaume takes the song to a whole
new level with afro beats giving a smooth tribal edge to the song, percussion,
melodic keys that create warm melodies and a jazzy saxophone, everything
perfectly underlining Kenny Bobien's unsmistakable voice. There is a wonderful
instrumental version featuring just the chorus and the marvellous saxophone solo
that will take you on a journey. Also included are bonus beats, acapella and an
alternate vocal version that got stripped of the beats.
ERIK MOLIERE
featuring DENNIS BEGANOVIC "Cantante" (Tribal Winds)
"Cantante" by
Slovenian Erik Moliere features Dennis Beganovic on vocals and
piano and is a spiritual jazz house production featuring latin percussion and a
wandering bassline, spreading a sunny feeling. Antonio Ocasio provides
the remix coming with a smoother groove, deeper bassline and additonal keys
giving the song an even warmer feeling.

PHIL SHEERAN "J'attends" (Cha
Cha Project)
Juan Hoerni
and Phil Sheeran present the laidback and groovy "J'attends" that
features two jazzy piano lines together with French spoken vocals courtesy
Irantzu Pujadas over a smoothly stormin' groove. The remix is courtesy of
Ron Trent who takes it to deeper grounds using his trademark moody beats and
spacey keys. Finally there is a beats version of the Ron Trent remix
included.

featuring YAVAHN "Get It Right" (Soul Groove)

Productions bring us "Get It Right"
featuring the amazing vocals of Joanne 'Yavahn' Thomas, a jazz influenced
and soul filled prodcution that combines classic garage vibes with different
jazz elements to create amellow bumpin' and groovy track that is spreading an
uplifting feeling. There are both vocal and instrumental version included that
let you enjoy all the finesses included.
MINDREADERS
featuring MALIK HART "Living My Life Underground" - S.U.M.O. Rebounces (Heya
Hifi/CD promo)
This is gonna be
on the Rebounces Album Sampler Part 2 by S.U.M.O. to be released
in late May, with the album following at the end of the aforementioned. This
track was originally released back in 1993 on the Detroit based 430 West label
and comes here in different flavas. First up is a take coming both as vocal and
dub that keeps it deep and moody with wicked organ stabs, conserving the old
school sound. Next is a groovy reworking including a brand new instrumentation
as backing for vocalist Malik Hart that includes wonderful strings and a
lovely guitar alongside jazzy keys. Finally there is a broken beat tool with a
funky edge for the serious DJ to play around with.
RONI SIZE featuring JOCELYN BROWN "Sing" (V Records 2x12"/test pressing)
Lifted from
Roni Size's current Return to V long player, "Sing" which features
the voice of Jocelyn Brown has been given the remix treatment by Kenny
Dope. While the original is a drum & bass track, the Kenny Dope
reworkings are based on a four-to-the-floor groove coming with sharp beats and
slammin' drums that are topped with wicked keys and the incredible Jocelyn
Brown, creating an irresistible vibe. A variety of mixes (vocal, dub,
keyapella, acapella, beats) is included for your pleasure.
SNOOP DOGG
featuring JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE & CHARLIE WILSON "Signs" - Dirtdiggers Remix
(12"/promo)
"Signs" is
Snoop Dogg's follow up to the worldwide smash "Let's Get Blown" and comes
with a somewhat similar groove. Dirtdiggers add their magical touch to it
to turn it into a funky house jam with a rumblin' groove that will keep your
feet moving. There are two vocal versions to choose from, with the second being
a 'clean' version that is also present as a radio edit.
SUSU BOBIEN
"Call him up" (Soundmen On Wax/promo)
This is the
second new release for the relaunched Soundmen on Wax label produced by BOP
aka Paul Scott & Brian 'Shank' Thompson. "Call Him Up" is a gospel house
production featuring a spiritual vocal performance by SuSu Bobien over a
powerful New Jersey styled garage groove coming complete with melodic keys and
an organ, creating an uplifting feeling.
K KLASS
featuring ROSIE GAINES "Dance With Me" (suSU/CD promo)
K Klass
are back featuring the vocal talents of Rosie Gaines. Their own mixes are
based on stompin' beats that are topped with spheric keys, spreading a drivin'
funky vibe. Mauve provides both vocal and dub remixes, adding some chunky
beats and filters, keeping the funky vibe alive. In contrast, DJ Spen & The
Muthafunkaz twist it into a fierce garage affair with a stormin groove, warm
jazzy keys and wonderful strings.
SUENO SOUL
featuring RAYMOND SAINT-VILLE "You Don't Know What Love Is" (Newlite/ CD promo)
Sueno Soul
have lots of goodies ready to drop, with this one to be released in early May.
Their original mix is on a soulful tip with a funkily stompin' groove, topped
with melodic keys, jazzy saxophone and the soulful vocals by Raymond
Saint-Ville, spreading a feel good vibe. You then can choose between two
alternate versions. The first one is based on sharp broken beats, giving the
funky bass guitar and the keys place to grow while the second one courtesy of
Robert Hayes comes with a soulfully stompin' groove and melodic keys, that
give the song a laidback vibe while keeping it powerful.
BENJI
CANDELARIO featuring LESLIE CARTER "Gotta Have Love" (Transitori Music/CD promo)
Best known for
his classic Swing 52 productions, Benji Candelario is back with
his own record label Transitori Music. The first release features Leslie
Carter on vocals over a driving, discofied house groove that is spreading an
irresistible vibe on the dancefloor with its stormin' groove and the melodic
keys. Two versions two choose from are included, with the 'Latenite Boogie Mix'
being the choice one for peak time play.
