Kenny Carvajal was responsible for two of this year’s Winter Music Conference highlights, and now, a couple of weeks later, he is back on the Picks of the Week spot with "First time" featuring Carla Prather on vocal. Simply said, this is soulful house music at its best with a timeless feel.
The legendary Arnold Jarvis is back with the Franck Roger & Alix Alvarez produced "Take Good Care Of Me", with the mixes by Alix taking it into deep house territory. More mixes by Franck Roger to follow soon. John Crockett presents the four track "Full Immersion EP" featuring different deep house grooves with jazzy keys and nice grooves. With his partner Charles Gatling, he presents "Merriment of being" as Working Underneath featuring Libby Jones, a lovely garage production coming in different flavas including a B-Soul remix.
For some laidback grooves, check out "Cabana Theme" by Justin Michael featuring a lovely guitar by Ian Fisher over a deeply stormin groove. Dennis Ferrer takes on "Tempo Da Solo" by Sueno Soul, where he keeps the vibe of the original alive and adds a fierce groove together with jazzy keys to take it straight to the dancefloors.
"Black Music" by Franky Boissy featuring Roland Clark is back in a reworking by Greece producer DJ Pascali who gives it a jazz-funky edge. More funky vibes can be found on "My Crooked Soul" by Nikos, featuring a great guitar play together with a male scat vocal. Louis Benedetti drops his remixes of "Spread love" by Chris Dockins, creating a sultry late nite houser.
"Loco Loco (Crazy Love)" by Terry Hunter features Papo Sanchez for a grooving peaktime latin house track with authentic latin vocals, followed by another Latin houser in form of "Bahia" by Bamboola Prod, coming with a lovely guitar leading the way. Finally, we see the Kenny Dope remixes of Jill Scott's two songs "Golden" and "Not Like Crazy" been given an official release, after they've been floating around on CD for some time.
