Marlon D
has been responsible for some classics of recent years, and now the time has
come for him to release his Love Is Key debut album. A brilliant varied
album that will further strengthen Marlon ‘s reputation for being a
versatile producer of soulful house music. A well deserved Pick of the
Week with its lovely selection of both vocal and instrumental tracks.
French based
Real Tone Records have the "Collections Of Moods EP" featuring two tracks by the
team of Alix Alvarez & Franck Roger and two tracks by Amnaye, all
of which are on an underground tip. Kerri Chandler returns with the "The
Dark One, The Moon & The Candle
Maker" EP, featuring the Detroitish "SixPpianos", the Latinesque "Mental
Moonlight Fiesta" and the old school "Light The World".
Beside all the
remixes he's doing, Quentin Harris finds time to produce original music
in form of "Got 2 Love" featuring Cordell McClary. While the vocal is a
soulful affair with a smoothly bumpin' groove, the dub has a tougher edge with
his signature keys. "So Beautiful" by Reggie Watts comes with smooth and
soulful mixes by Brent Laurence, and is given a deep house treatment by
Harley & Muscle who slow it down a bit and use laminar keys over a moody
grooe. Olivier Desmet turns it into a west coast viber with spacey keys.
Teddy Douglas
has the tribalish "The Path" that is built on stormin' beats and comes complete
with cosmic keys creating an irresistible vibe. "La Casa Del Jazz" by Cricco
Castelli has been promoed as part of the "Soulfuic Miami 2005 Sampler" and
is soon to get a full 12"
release, featuring new tougher mixes that keep the musical integrity intact.
Kenny Bobien's latest release is the gospelish "Right Away" coming with a
chunky guitar riff and smooth chords, with a guitar led stripped down dub. Estonian based Margus Peterson presents "Look Ahead", a powerful
cover version of the Danny Tenaglia classic featuring female voals and
jazzy keys, with both a groovy tribal-ish and a pumpier sax injected dub
included.
The worldwide
release of S.U.M.O.'s Rebounces is imminent, a compilation of
their remix work, featuring some of the most memorable moments from the past, as
well as new work that will be released on 12" singles.
