Today’s situation seing (almost) everything for free while (illegally)
downloading or being on a guest list is cool in some way. But what about those
who’ve invested on producing music, booking DJ’s or simply provided you with the
infos ? A tough question indeed leading us to the survival of a whole system on
its own…
C’mon, let’s
face it… If the latest evolutions in terms of technology have considerably made
the things easier on many aspects of life, they have simultaneously changed the
consumption habbits, modifying an already fragilized balance if not risking to
destroy it within a short period. Let me please humbly remind you that what you
may get for free has nevertheless a cost for its producers who, as a matter of
fact, are exactly at the same position as you at the end of the month, being in
the obligation to pay their bills.
As
an example amongst many others, you might see people here and there claiming
their need and love for a (good) night with the appropriate DJ(‘s) at the right
place. Then, the aformentioned would be
offered a free entry at the club and would happen to spend the whole moment
without ordering the singlest drink at the bar and eventually bringing their own
bottle of water or whatever… But what they don’t understand is that, when doing
so, they put the promoters in a very bad situation in regards to the owner of
the place who ends up being very much tempted to welcome events with more
financial potential. And I would be very much tempted to say that it’s about the
same as far as all the said DJ’s making incomes while playing illegally
downloaded files are concerned. As it’s the same when having us individually
dropping unselected garbage on an everyday basis or driving our cars for any
reason when we could walk or use the city transports…
This is a
question of conscience, behaviour and, most of all respect of oneself as, once
again, always easy to complain or criticize when not doing what WE have to do
ourselves when taken separately. And the funny thing – or shoud I say -
‘ironical’ is that none of us would even think/act like this as far as sports
are concerned. We indeed gotta stop thinking short term, otherwise risks are
numerous to have the whole system going bankrupt and our heroes disappearing or
change their works for the usual commercial sh** around the way some have
already done in recent years. We gotta get rid of all these selfish reactions of
ours when it’s still time, otherwise chances are great to kill the
alternative and see each of us provided with the same (and most definitely not
ol’good) thang at the same time under the control of the same provider. We gotta
realize that each second going is now capital as well as each Dime we invest on
maintaining our heroes in activities and subsequently giving them the resources
to develop them. This is nothing but the expectable price that one have to pay
for keeping what has to be considered as the choice and, to a wider extend,
LIBERTY alive… MFSB
