Amazing the way things tend to go since quite a while with many people
like making rounds and rounds if not stucked in the middle of nowhere. A feeling
which not only occurs on the current production but, more widely, on most
aspects of today’s life. As if those too many thangz provided at the same time
had made us loose the sense of the (true) values, leaving a whole space for
instant money makers as opposed to passionated people…
As some of you
may have noticed, I recently felt the need to take some distance as far as
today’s production is concerned. Not to say that nothing’s worth the listen out
of it, but simply because I personally came to the point that it was too much at
the same time with the risk of coming to loose my latest oz of objectivity. I
mean, how can we make ourselves a proper idea of what comes out today with so
many things around ? And I’m not talking about the sole musical production, as
almost every domain faces this situation, with the trade occupying the leading
role as opposed to the notion of artistery which, as far as the things gathering
us on these pages are concerned, is quite ironical.
I would be very
much tempted to say that the current situation is nothing but the proper of our
current way of leaving, with no politicians (or so little) having a clear vision
of what’s going on, when not being the representative of fast growing lobbies,
thus resulting with the creation of a system whose main goal is to increase its
power while making everything to isolate individuals and kill the alternative.
As a matter of
fact, the way the current press works should gives us quite an explanation of
what to expect in the coming months/years if we keep on reacting the way we’ve
progressively done for so many years, saying YES to almost everything, as
opposed to give ourselves the opportunity to express critics when we feel the
need for it. It’s more than time to stop taking everything for granted unless
risking to put ourselves in the situation where the necessity of an alternative
is to quickly become a pale souvenir.
Funny how the
notion of choice was more obvious some 20 to 30 years ago, at a period where the
technology was not as developped as nowadays ; as if this instrument of
democratisation had finally had the reverse effect on today’s society. You would
see for instance single people being offered to get in touch with others on the
net when not even able to talk to each others in the streets or at places like…
clubs whose reputed proper is to gather people sharing common interests !!!
Quite ironical isn’t it ? And this is just an example amongst many others of the
way our Westernised societies work nowadays, having each of us individually
speaking searching for its own roots, make some friends or meet THE one with the
hope of finding the right place for socializing…
I was in Spain
no later than a week ago, surrounded by people who, despite the fast and recent
modernization of their society, have managed to maintain a certain amount of
traditions on the way they’re living, like going out at nites and gather at some
cafe terraces or simply take a seat in front of their houses and have a chat
with the boy/lady next door even though living at some city center. I’ve stayed
true to myself behind the decks, playing many different stuff, instead of
sticking to a predominant genre and I’ve ended up being graced by the smiles of
a vaste majority of the people who came down whatever their ages were and you
know what ? I’ve had the feeling that their needs haven’t changed that much
despite the arrival of those (too) many trends which have gone under an
unceasing flow during the 3 last decades. What they do expect are nothing else
but good vibes to dance to, meet pals and chat with. Differently said, a good
environment which, as said to me by David Morales a few months ago, is
the basis for good people to come, as opposed to what many reputed observers
would like us to believe while erecting artifices as ways of living from an
issue to another. History has widely shown us how these are not the trends that
remain best remembered, but the ones whose works go far beyond. Let’s have faith
into what we’re accomplishing while staying true to what/who we deeply are. It’s
without a doubt the simplest way to find what we’re searching for, as opposed to
hide ourselves behind some precreated character. MFSB
