In the vein of our pre Summer break Vintage 12’’ by the likes of CJ & Co comes this double tracker by an outfit who, to many observers, stands as the best disco group of all time. An 11 piece band hailing from Philadelphia including singer Jimmy Ellis, drummer Earl Young and pianist/producer Ron Kersey (not to mention saxophnist John Davis although I dunno if the latest is the author of the famous ‘Love Magic by the Orchestra of the name on Columbia) synonymous with successes such as ‘Zing Went The Strings Of My Heart’ (their debut single on Buddah in 1974), ‘Stop & Think’, ‘Shout’ and ‘Love Epidemic’ the year after on Golden Fleece via CBS and this much sought after hit taken from the Saturday Night Fever OST in 1977. What comes as immediate while listening to the repertoire of The Trammps is this incredible impression of energy (thanks to the vocal interpretations) and brightness (thanks to the arrangements) being for much on the solidity of those unforgettable grooves given to the hands of the ever shinning Tom Moulton for some post-production work.
