A quick note for those of you who may have heard about this Summer South Of France based festival, considered as a serious house platform for 3 consecutive years, to let them know how times are not like they were…
With a majority of unknown live acts, to the noticable excpetion of vet outfit James Taylor Quartet and the exciting Sébastien Romeo & Free Fonk this 2005 edition left an impression of scepticism on many of its first hour fans, despite some persistant gossip about a possible visit of Kerri Chandler til the very last minute. Not a piece of house then or so few, with MFSB spinning the nite before at La Vague or DJ’s Seb and Sam right before JTQ on Saturday evening in front of a real crowd as opposed to the opening and ending nights. As for the rest, made of live acts, it would leave us like with a feeling of overdose of Hamond within a pseudo easy listening psyche jazz rock vein. Not to mention the addiction of a non convincing live by a part of the Troublemakers and a scratch session by Billy Brown without an ounce of interest.
Let’s not forget the primar influences of programmer DJ Bool, formerly a rocker who got into house for some time, an dit doesn’t feel like granted that this house music like we love will ever come back to that place – la Tour Royale – that it enlighted so much the previous years. So long.
