It's a heads-up to all you vinyl junkies this week as we have two hot new slabs of Far Out goodness coming your way. The next 7" in the new series - Democustico's 'Vagalume' – is due in the shops from Monday 31st October. Aslice of tripped-out Tropicalia, 'Vagalume' has been played by GillesPeterson on his Worldwide Radio 1 Show and as with the last 7" there are LTD copies on the website now.
Also available from next week will be the Spiritual South and Quantic remixes of Sabrina Malheiros. Quantic's remix of 'Passa' is a malevolent drum-heavy excorcisiom more twisted than Poltergeist and that see's our super-heroine Sabrina battling an evil b-line from Brighton's bad bwoy. On the flip, it’s heavenly hedonism from the saintly Mark from Spiritual South who turns in a hands-in-the-air samba-house remix of 'Capoeira Vai' guaranteed to get them gurning from Grimsby to Goiania. Heavy new design styles coming with the 12"s from now on - each new 12" will come in its own colour scheme - check it. faroutrecordings.comLIVE DATES
"When Joyce performs solo, as she did for an achingly beautiful sequence of classic Bossa Novas ...her guitar playing was so swooningly articulate that it was like hearing a one-woman orchestra. She sings and scats like an angel, looks divine and jokes with the audience in both English and Portuguese. By the end, you felt healed".
(Review of Joyce's gig @ St George's, Bristol in The Independent on Sunday)
If you live near Paris, Bern, Brussels or in the States then you still have the chance to experience Joyce's soothing sambas in person, details for the gigs below. If you can't get to the gigs or have missed Joyce on her other European dates, then here's a little treat for you - two Joyce acoustic sets for you courtesy of the BBC. The first one is online till Sat 29th October, the second till Tues 1st November.
