Hailing from NJ Franke Estevez & George Mena are no doubt amongst the most interesting faces which have come to the attention over the last months/years. You may also remember George’s name for being responsible of the production of one our Miami favs a couple of years ago by the likes of Treena Rose’s ’Tell Me All About it’. Meanwhile Franke represents the pair behind the decks. No doubt, those two were made to work together. Ladies & gents, welcome Fuzion!
Would you mind having a few words as an introduction to where you're coming from, who you are and where you intend to go?
We are George Mena & Franke Estevez also known as Fuzion coming from New Jersey USA. We have an independent label called Fuzion Records. Our production is based out of a studio we call Love House Music Studios... Our goal is to put out quality dance music with a blend of Jazz Funk and Live Latin Flavors. We Believe In Diversity... It's always good to try a new genre of music and work with other talented individuals...
The sparkle which would make you become who you are…
Franke: To Me, my biggest innovator would be Earth, Wind, & Fire. I could never get enough of those guys. Lot's of talent in that band, and I enjoyed all of there music...
Where to find you, and your current environment in terms of local scene/nightlife?
Franke: We'll I am, a huge night life person... I enjoy going to clubs in NYC, like Club Shelter, The Roots Party At Cielo, and 718 at Club Deep..Just can't get enough of the night life...lol
Your heroes?
Franke: My Heroes is my Parents. They believe in what I am doing and what I am trying to accomplish...
The ones you feel the closest to…
Franke: The one I feel the closest to is my partner George Mena, whom I have been working with very hard these last couple of years. Plenty of Chemistry...
The way you work and your source of inspiration…
Franke: I go out to the clubs and listen to what is out there. I check out, the crowd react to a certain tune that the dj is playing..It's really a great feeling when you see a crowd getting into a song they really love.
Your definition of a good piece of music.
Franke & George: Our definition of a good piece of music is, the right vocal with the right music, in key..Song arrangement, recording quality, and lyrics that make sense...
Of a good nite…
Franke & George: A good nite for us, is when we do a session with an artist and you sense automatically at the beginning of the session, that there is chemistry between the artist and the producers. It's a beautiful thing…
The way you'd like to be looked at…
Franke & George: We would like to be looked at, as talented producers, that can do anything creative, when it comes to music.
Your best/worst souvenir…
Franke: My Best Souvenir was a t shirt that was given to me by my father with a picture of him and I...My worst souvenir was a cactus plant that I did not know what to do with on a plane...
Your perception of the current situation and the things which need to evolve…
Franke: Well, what needs to evolve is the recognition of Dance Music. And what I mean by that is, the right source of media, exposing this market. I would like to see us on big magazines, TV, video syndication and live radio broadcast. I just feel without those essentials, it makes the market harder for us to get there.
The thing you love at most…
Franke & George: The thing we love the most is when we get love and respect from people whom we meet and sometimes look up too and believe in us, and what we are trying to accomplish in this dance community.
The one you hate at most…
Franke & George: We don't hate, anybody. We believe everyone is working just as hard as all of us. The one true thing I can honestly say about this market is that we as a community do not promote any violence nor hate in our music...
Your current projects…
Franke & George: Our Current Project is a song we did with Arnold Jarvis called ‘Justified Love’, out on our own label. We enjoyed working with Arnold. Also, our EP called ‘The Fuzion Traxx EP’.. which is a four track collection strictly for the DJ's and anybody that loves instrumental works.
