Introducing the artists...
• Zambian superstar Jordan Katembula, known affectionately as JK, crafts vocals and harmonies in such a way that even though he may not often sing in English, the emotions shine through. He has sold more records than any other Zamibian artist in history and tours internationally to expose his music to new fans abroad.
• Rising producer/dj/musician Black Coffee aka Nathi Maphumulo from South Africa is part of the new school of deep house music afficianados leading the scene in South Africa. He releases house albums on major labels such as EMI in South Africa and DJs throughout the country.
• Producer/Musician Ian Greenwood can create music to fit almost any genre whether it be house or other exotic flavours of dance music. You wouldn’t guess that when listening to "Kumala" feat Keith Thompson that Ian is from Liverpool, UK.
• There's a strong dance scene in South Africa where house music and their take on the music called Kwaito is popular music played on radio and sells hundreds of thousands. This track is by one of the busy producers of the scene, Fizzy & Loaf with mad Spanish chants from Bambazee.
• Acquired because of its mad Latin flavour. Producer/artist/label boss Keith Thompson has been in the music business for eons and is still inspired to create music that make people want to dance and think. From his classic "Break 4 Love" to ground, breaking Ragga-houser "Can't Take It", to this growing underground anthem, he is ever reinventing.
• Bazwaana are the core session and touring band for legends like Hugh Masekela and BOP (Kwaito super stars). Hailing from South Africa, collectively they are Adam Howard ( UK ex-pats), Bes Roberts (UK ex-pat), and Jimmy Mgwandi with Prudence Phokobye on vocals. They show how a live band can make jazzy, driving, and satisfying house music.
• New school producer Brooklyn Blak hails from where else but Brooklyn, New York and is certainly causing a stir with his chunky Afro house outings.. .one to keep an eye on.
• Producer Nermin and vocalist Ayaah are from Austria with previous engaging house cuts including "Time" and "Let Love" they illustrate how soul is universal.
• Hailing from Zimbabwe but currently living in New York, Eddie Ed has been in the house/dance music industry for over 15 years, from Radio DJ in Southern Africa to promoting parties and DJing in New York. Showcasing his debut release on Worlds Collide “Sangano” showcases his raw drum symphony sound.
• David Skizo aka Afro Blue has been a DJ and producer in Botswana for years where he is credited for introducing house to the region after studying in the USA in the 80's. He has remixed Keith Thompson's "Africa In Your Veins" and worked with most of the stars of the music industry in Southern Africa. His unique style of blending authentic African themes and structures with house has gained him international acclaim.
• One of the original creators of the Kwaito scene in South Africa and label mates with the other superstars, Emanuel Matsane aka Mjokes is one of the few political singer/producer in the dance music scene. He couches his commentary in humour with jazz, disco, and house flavours. He has performed several times at Louie Vega's Roots events during the WMC in Miami.
