Love is in the air!! The new Jimpster LP is finally here and well worth the wait! For those that don't know Amour is Jimpster's 3rd official artist LP and his first since 2003's Domestic Science.
Amour is essentially a deep, soulful, musical and emotive album that will no doubt please fans of previous Jimpster productions but also sees him take a step away from his more dancefloor friendly approach that his remixes have become famous for. Instead, for his debut LP for Freerange, he's chosen to push in a more song based direction which highlights his versatility as a producer and shows his ability to move stealth like between styles and tempos with a consistency rarely found.
From downtempo, instrumental hip hop grooves through to abstract minimal techno through to deep, clicky house and way beyond, this LP will reawaken and enthuse even the most jaded of listeners out there. This could be put down to Jamie's early decision to bring in featured vocalists to bring a different spin to his usual, instrumental styles. These vocalists have highly varied backgrounds, each with a unique approach which helps to bring a different identity to the vocal tracks and keep things sounding fresh and musical throughout.
Whether its the lyrical flow of Captiol A on Left & Right, the jazzual sensuality of Gothenburg's Elsa Hedburg on Slippin', The soul drenched vocals of Alexander East on Love You Better or the amazing performance of London based Rasiyah on Secret Sun, each delivery goes toward creating a unique and forward looking yet instantly accessible LP that you'll never tire of.
