Who, five years later, hasn’t still in mind those terrible images of the WTC? As for myself, I remember exactly the circumstances gettin’ fronted to them and the state of schock which they got me in. And you, wot was you doin’ at this precise moment?
Who could have ever thought of such a tragedy comion’ true ? I figure, like many of you, that I’ve couldn’t believe this at first, then progressively realize, before sort of refusing it.
It was a little bit before 4.00pm (local time) and I was at a recording session in Paris with Bruce Keen, when he received a call on his cell inviting him to switch on CNN straight away, which he did in the following seconds.
We were putting the final touches to the mixing of Ritmo Suave (a compilation, the second installment of which was to be released in the following weeks on Slip’N’Slide) and we felt like the hardest to get back to work. I couldn’t help thinking about all those victims as well as my NYC people, taken by a growin’ uneasiness as hours/days were goin’, this in addiction to the communications which got interrupted for a period that seemed like endless.
I’ve been lucky enuff to see none of those I love disappearing, which is far from being the case for many others. I’d like to dedicate those lines to them as well as to their families. MFSB
