The next beyondjazz session which was to take place this Friday March 19. has been dramatically cancelled. At first I didn't believe it myself, said Juriaan. So I went down to the Hoogpoort to see it with my own eyes. And yes, Sous-Sol (the venue who hosts our sessions) went up in flames. A couple of arsonists broke into the building and set it on fire.
I really feel sorry for Birger and the whole Sous-Sol crew & its visitors. Gent needed a place like that. I wish them much strength and hope they find the courage to rebuild the place.
As for the next session, planned at Sous-Sol ... Obviously, it won't take place there. We'll try to have the session somewhere else, but that's not sure as we don't have that much time left.
