(IT’S) A NEW DAY…
I remember as if it was yesterday this very first time which saw me coming to Miami to attend the Winter Music Conference. Somehow lost in this environment both new and beyond measure at the time, I see again myself asking the way to get there and the expression of total suprise of my interlocutors when specifying them that this happened to be an event dedicated to house (music). I can hear them again tellin’ me : House? What is house music??? This was 10 years ago and things haven’t changed that much since. Thereafter, a few elements of reflection…
With some of us regularly wondering about the obvious lack of notoriety of house music in regards to a wide assistance, shouldn’t we simply start askin’ ourselves if it is really reasonable blamin’ it for not knowing what it doesn’t have (or so little) access to? True, some peeps would say here and there that the question shouldn’t be formulated under this form after the constitution of the biggest imaginable ever data basis with the admission of Internet as a new media. This to which we’ll immediately respond saying how useless this may be as long as the key words aren’t given to those we address ourselves to. Differently said: what are commonly known as tracks. And this is where remains all the difficulty between, on one hand, the holders of the information, most likely unable to transmit it, either for the misleading reason that they claim to be a part of a said underground movement – I’d then be glad bein’ explained why they publish their works when not for havin’ them made accesible – either coz’ they don’t give themselves the means to do it while using the dedicated link-ups. Then, on the other, the latest, far more busy, surfin’ on the trendz from a buzz to another for most of’em.
Of course, it remains always possible tellin’ ourselves that the situation was much better before ; which is true to some extend. This said, how not being delighted about the instantaneity of reaction offered today by Internet as opposed to any other medium, not to mention the reduction to almost zero of the shipping costs of the said info??? Better said that hope remains fully alive, as soon as we both will have proceeded to the essential adapation of our behaviours in regards to the extreme modernisation – not to say the revolution – of the communication tools left at our disposal over those last years. No need tellin’ you how we, on IDMW.Com, are hardly workin’ on this day after day… MFSB
