Gone with the wind???
Summer’s here… It’s June 2007 in Athens, the temperature is rising, reaching 97°F out there and we’re already in search of that cooling soulful house that followed our every move during those hot summer days in the past... Seaside Club Venues, mega clubs reknown to be dedicated to what some of us like to call sizzling soulful house, now turning mainstream... Small clubs with residencies from well known Greek DJ sets now seize to exist.... Where has all the house gone? Has it really gone with the wind? Was it all a winter phenomenon? Or is it just in need of a better search??? Leaving the Winter behind, we’ve said goodbye to Bondage, Motel, Barouge, Luv, Plus-X, and smaller clubs such as Jazzium, One Happy Cloud, Mamaca’s and El Barrio which will surely be missed...
On the Summer map, Villa Mercedes Club downtown, Saturday nights at Ammos, Playground on the Beach parties every Sunday at Dekko, Scarpa, Bolero in Mykonos and DJ tours all over the country are here to remind us what the Summer is all about!! Little Louie Vega, Dennis Ferrer, Sandy Rivera, Chellonis R. Jones are already scheduled to heat up our Summer nights. Groovy sounds, uplifting melodies, soulful voices are just around the corner. All we need to do is take a better look. House is here to stay...
And so we’re ready to welcome the festive season in Greece, to be started this Friday with Soulreel inviting Dennis Ferrer @ Villa Mercedes.

In the spirit of introducing anything in regards to the said Black groove here in Greece, one could hardly not mention those who, from the inside, are to be considered as the local ambassadors of this specific phenomenon called house, beginning with Paul Tsoras (Paul T) and Vassilis T (Billie T), better known as Soulreel…
Soulreel was formed back in 2003 when the 2 boys (both DJ’s and producers) came to meet at Athens based label Planetworks Records, droppin’ their first production 2 years later as a part of the Local Underground compilation, followed by their first CD mix titled Delicious House Cartel in October 2006. Fair enough so far. But what is the sound of Soulreel all about?? It’s what they like to call jazzy and soulful vibes embarking into deep house and spiritual uplifting vibrations/sensations.Their music has been aired by Athens Best Radio (92.6 FM) on its Guest DJ’s Zone weekly show. Soon flying off, Soulreel’s The House Cartel Radio Show celebrated one year of successful air last March and is now being programmed on more than 25 radio stations in Greece and Cyprus including Safari (Thessaloniki/107.1 FM), Heat Radio (Alexandroupoli/88.3 FM), D-Code (Chania/96.2 FM), Kiss FM (Mytilini 101.3 FM) and Energy Radio (Cyprus/107.6 FM), in addiction to SSRAdioUK, Motion FM and Radio 42 aborad.
Following their CD comp release party at Motel (November 2006) and appearances at Athens hot Club Bondage as monthly guests during the Winter, Paul and Billie are about to kick off their 2007 Summer tour with a first stop this Friday, June 24 at Villa Mercedes warming up for NYC heavyweight DJ Dennis Ferrer.
It’s now time for soulful Summer in the country and the the party is about to begin. So be there or be square!
