TIME AFTER TIME…
Life is made of unceasing experiences. Of those experiences which shape our tastes at our early ages – what French author, Marcel Proust used to call his famous madeleines (*) – and most likely determine what we become along the years. They are first and foremost the proper of each of us and eventually get into History. The one we’re talkin’ about on an every day basis: our history!
Nothing is, everything becomes, also said philosopher Bergson. And here again, there’s nothing to sauy about it, knowing how a simple meeting may change the tide of a whole life, wherever we’re coming from and whoever we are. Ths being the proper of life reniewing itself with the time going with the addiction of an heritage to be transmitted from a generation to another. This is how, wherever we express ourself, we need referees ; the Africans whose culture is unwritten tending to say than whenever an ancient dies, it’s a library that disappears in the meantime.
Paul Daley of Leftfield said to me one day: I can’t figure which volume I would have today, if I ever had written a single sentence each day! Things which are quite revealing of a said modern life where everything seems to go always faster, having many of us taken by a certain frenziness and run after the time even though – stop me if I’m doin’ a mistake – one day remains made of 24 hours !!! Direct consequence of that obvious tendency for those who have the power to try to increase their benefits and in the meantime their domination while proceeding to nothing but the uniformization of our environment. The sortest way to achieve it being to take us away from our roots and respective culture, while looking for the greater common denominator with the perspective of the threat of the establishment of a reputedly unic way of thinking, even though, ironically, no one among the decision makers looks ready to admit it…
As a result, it’s more than ever essential, not only keeping the flamme of the souvenir alive, but also bringing all the support to those who, by their acts, do write day after day what which tomorrow will be considered as a part of the History. MFSB
