In addition to the Defected family is the
launch of our new imprint In The House Records aka ITH Records. This is a
special imprint designed to be a new facility for Defected. It will allow us to
work with and develop different styles of artists, both new and established,
away from the main label. The sound will be predominantly soulful and vocal but
may venture into deeper grooves and cuts. Further good news is that this label
will provide us with the facility to make selected tracks available from our In
The House compilation series. This gives DJ’s the chance to grab the 12” for
their sets. Perfect.

this label…
MAW featuring India
- I Can’t Get No Sleep - Copyright re-edit (Release Date : Apr.
26). This is a track that was originally released by The Masters At Work
team in 1993, and it became an instant classic. Untouched up until now,
Copyright had the chance to give it their magic remix treatment. It was
dropped as the last record of their set at the Defected party in Miami (just
before Kenny Dope was to play). Kenny heard it and loved it. The rest is
history.
This soulful gem has had the distinct
Copyright touch and it shows, great production again by the talented duo. A
classic garage anthem which is a great floor filler featuring the undisputable
sound of India’s vocal.
The Latin Project ‘Lei Lo Lai’ MAW Mix (Brian Tappert’s re-tweaked
edit) is to be on the flipside… This is a collaboration between Jez
Colin, founding member of the early 90's acid jazz group The Solsonics,
and Matt Cooper, best known of Incognito and Dorado UK act
Outside. Masters At Work give it a rework to much critical acclaim.
You’ll find that the MAW mix uses a stepping beat and cut-up Spanish guitar lick
that doesn’t fail to make you shake. It’s worth noting that New-Zealand
wonderkid Nathan Haines plays Flute and Soprano Sax on this mix. This mix
has had the smallest of tweaks by Brian Tappert to make it sound just
right and is an exclusive from the Soulfuric In The House
compilation. Both these tracks can be found on the aforementionned released
Apr.5.
