The Big Chill
invites you in to witness its words in motion.
In part a
celebration of The Big Chill's tenth birthday, in part an evolution into an as
yet unchartered artistic area, The Big Chill is delighted to announce its debut
book, Crossfade : A Big Chill Anthology. Produced in partnership
with the small, progressive publishing house, Serpent's Tail, editors Pete
Lawrence and Vicki Howard are very excited to bring you this new
book, a little under a year after it was first dreamt up.
Crossfade : A Big
Chill Anthology addresses the notion of
musical genres and the way in which they have influenced key musicians, DJ's and
Big Chiller's lives. Taking a personal and enthusiastic approach, these ten
essays get under the skin of different epochs and areas of music, questioning
and redefining boundaries in a manner typical of The Big Chill. This is not an
anthology of critical and cold analysis; it breathes the energy and passsion
that music inspires in so many and the way in which The Big Chill represents
merging and emergent areas of music.
Writers are
Susanna Glaser, Ally Fogg, Pete Lawrence, Tony Marcus,
Mixmaster Morris, Hillegonda Rietveld, Alan James,
Stuart Borthwick, Guy Morley and DJ Derek, covering
topics such as bleep, chill-out, jazz, folk and nostalgia. Also included is an
introduction by Pete Lawrence and Vicki Howard.
Crossfade will be
on sale at this year's Eastnor Castle festival, 30th, 31st July - 1st August,
and also through bookshops and outlets around the UK from Autumn onwards.
Enjoy !
The Big Chill crew,
