Alan Jones is one of Chicago's original house music DJs and is regarded by many as among the "founding fathers" of house. In the late '70s and early '80s, Alan was a member of the legendary DJ crew "The Chosen Few," which consisted of Alan, Wayne Williams, Jesse Saunders, and Tony and Andre Hatchett. Along with Frankie Knuckles, then at the Warehouse, theChosen Few were among the Chicago DJs primarily responsible during this period for popularizing the underground dance music that came to be known as "house music."
After a 15-year "retirement" from the scene, Alan returned with a vengeance in the year 2000. Since then, he has played to rave reviews at various Chicago nightspots. Alan is also featured in the much anticipated house music documentary film, "The Unusual uspects," by house music legend Chip E. Although Alan's roots are in disco and deep house, he now leads the "Nu Bang Clan," a collection of Chicago DJs who are dedicated to advancing the cause of new underground dance music.
