But most of all, who is… this? This was undoubtly the question which instanTly came to my mind when I heard this killer funk groove for the very first time. Da hell, it was exactly 30 years ago at a club which to me stood as one of the most exciting places in the world back then, named Le Vaudeville in Brussels. And although I was still on a maturing process as far as discovering music is concerned, I could feel a touch which sounded already sort of familiar in terms of arrangements. And the fact is… This infectious blend of strings and horns came on the heels of both Brass Construction’s ‘Movin’’ and Mark Radice’s ‘If You Can’t Beat’em Join’em’ co-produced by Randy Muller. As for the singer himself, this would be ironically his latest hit taken from his ultimate album which – could this be a premonition? – happened to be titled Has It All. And I guess it pretty much had! MFSB
