OSCAR
Portrait robot
Denote Records

Some of you may well have already heard about this French pair, either via their
12" or after the release of their first LP untitled Parisian Soul by the
beginning of last year.
Oscar's
history is the one of two guys quite apart from the current noise(s) around the
French scene. Probably due to the fact that they don't want to be stucked here
or there. The best illustration being given with the concept of this follow-up
that doesn't have that much in common with their previous work. If we still can
feel their inner (deep) vibes, David Hachour and Florent Sabaton
have dropped their organic approach into a electronic one, gaining more energy
in the meantime as most notoriously shown on the opening cut seeming somehow
like a wink to… Daft Punk ! Right after, looks like a reminder to
Jestofunk's work with CeCe Rogers although sung by a female vocalist.
The third track having that sort of electro trancey pop appeal. All on all
having a complete listen to this effort gives a full idea of Hachour &
Sabaton's versatility, twisting elements of hip hop, reggae, rock,
disco, electro and breakbeat in what appears like a particular magma. Yeah, a
modern grovvin' magma…
