The least we can say 'bout this Glaswegian new wave act which first appeared in 1980 as a threesome comprising David Rudden, Paul Wishart & David Murdock is that it failed making major noise apart from Germany. And the later addition of extra members including Simple Minds drummer Brian McGhee in 1982 wouldn’t change anything… Til the release of this specific cut as the flipside of Hugh Masekela’s ‘Don’t Go Loose it Baby’ on the Ballroom label 12 inch series of reedits pushing a whole bunch of purists to try putting their hands on this quite hard to find original release. As a matter of fact, many of you here might wonder what made it so special, if not what is this all about. Well, as often on such circumstances, I would say this was simply a matter of right ingredients being at the right place such as an appealing jazzy sax part, an interesting mixture of electronic synths, a rhythmic guitar part obviously inherited from Chic and a rumbling bassline over vocoderised vocal sequences. Somehow reminiscent of works by groups like System and Scritti Politti. No need to say more apart from the fact that the group looks set to make a come back.
