As many of my reputed collegues, I’d be pretty much tempted to say about this record how everything has been said about it. But wait a minute… 20 years have gone since its original release on Atlantic, this meaning the absolute need of its introduction to the new generations exposed to a whole bunch of senseless stuff in comparizon nowadays. Nope folks, this ain’t nostalgia as music happens to speak for itself, not to mention the message of this song which remains timeless. Of course, we gotta remember that (almost) everything remained to be written back then in terms of a genre known as house music (some people eventually talkin’ about New Jersey sound as far as this specific cut is concerned even though its producer, Marshall Jefferson - who would have another of his classics by the likes of Ten City’s ‘Devotion’ released the same day on the same label – hails from Chicago)… But I guess what makes this work considered as a real masterpiece is the fact that it goes far beyond labellization.
