We're coming to the close of a truly amazing year - for music, for parties, for humanity, and most importantly, for Giant Step! No, but seriously, it really has been a definitive year for our company and it wouldn't have been nearly so fun and crazy without you. As we reminisce about 2007 and look forward to a kick-ass 2008, we want to say thanks for supporting this ever-expanding DJ service and for sharing the love with our global Giant Step family (come celebrate the good vibes with us this Wednesday here in NYC!!!). The music world seems to be burrowing in for a much-needed winter's nap, but I know as soon as the days start to get a bit longer, our ears will be buzzing again with new music and our feet will be sweating despite the cold. Yet as you can see below, we're still gettin' busy -- hope you're keeping things moving too!
-- NEW DJ PROMOS --
After a blizzard of Giant Step DJ promos throughout October and early November, the storm has calmed a bit. But we're still getting our hands dirty with some hot projects. The ladies are definitely making themselves heard these days... Currently making the rounds are two limited 12-inch promos from M.I.A. - one features bullet-proof remixes of "Paper Planes" by Diplo and Adrock, along with a Wale remix of "Boyz" on the B-Side. The other M.I.A. 12-inch is blazing through the clubs with remixes of "Jimmy" by DJ Eli, Dean Coleman, and Dan Corey. Hot on the heels of our digital DJ promo, a limited 12-inch promo for Katy Perry's "Ur So Gay" arrived garnished by a Junior Sanchez remix. And last week, our digital DJ promo mailing for Kate Nash was finally delivered, laced with remixes from such notables as Bloc Party, Hot Chip, Metronomy and Tapedeck. Looking ahead, we've got bags of colorful promo gifts getting wrapped up by Adam down in his B-more workshop, including new DJ promos for Estelle (feat. Kanye West), Duffy, and much more!

Since the last update, we've had a bunch of great events, including two nights of Ben Watt at Cielo, the successful launch of our Brownswood Sessions residency at Nublu, the star-studded J.A.M Awards, Swedish jazz crew Koop's first NYC show in 5 years, the wonderful Alice Russell & Turntables On The Hudson, Rob Garza's Dust Galaxy, and even more!
But the big one is finally here! Tomorrow (Wednesday, Dec. 12th), we're celebrating our Stolichnaya Holiday Party, with an unbelievable lineup of talent: headlining DJ's Mr. Scruff and Turntables on the Hudson; live performances by Tiombe Lockhart, José James, and Taylor McFerrin; as well as DJ's Center, Moni, Dhundee, Tyler Askew and more! There is NO COVER & a 2-hour OPEN BAR, so if you are in NYC you should definitely head down to the Bowery and party with the crew. Note: you need to email rsvp@giantstep.net to get on the guestlist!
Past that, we've got the second edition of our new Brownswood Sessions residency at Nublu on Dec. 27th, with José James, Elan Mehler, TK Wonder, Duke (GAEA) and DJ Moni. On New Year's Eve, we'll be partying at the Hudson Hotel with Qool DJ Marv and J-Boogie. And in January, don't forget our MLK Jr. Tribute with Norman Jay MBE and DJ Spinna! DJ Eli gets down and dirty with his electro-fueled extended remix. And Dan Carey breaks out the 808 for his disco-flavored remix. Paying respect to the vibe of the original version, each remix delivers unique flavor to launch M.I.A. off on a whole new trip.

This digital DJ promo brings you smashing remixes of some of the best tracks on Kate Nash's forthcoming US debut Made Of Bricks. Bloc Party guitarist Russell Lissack flips "Pumpkin Soup" into a hot & heavy club banger worthy of any floor, while the Hot Chip mix of "Mouthwash" rinses through the mix with crunchy production and bottom-heavy bounce. As if that wasn’t enough, the cheeky electro-folk bopper "Caroline’s A Victim" receives proper care via Tapedeck's HPC refix, and the title track of Kate Nash's new EP "Foundations" is fully renovated by Metronomy.
