You're Gonna Miss Me
Music Village |
I sometimes happen to be asked about the reason that makes me choose a cut rather than an other one at some precise date. Well, as far as this one is concerned, I firstly would say that there’s more than one (reason)! Beginning with the fact that it remains timeless despite ready to enter its third decade with the new year to come, showing with much subtlty and brilliance the upbringing of Latin influences on the NYC/NJ house production with keys put to the same level as percussions over a phat bassline. God and many of us by the time of its release knowing how enlightening they were, serving as the ideal environment to nothing but a universal story under the form of a dispute between a man and a… (Latin) woman and eventually showing the talent of a man – Hippie Torrales – who, unfortunately never got the recognition he deserves, despite the heavy push of Dave Lee aka Joey Negro who put it out on his Republic Records imprint back then in UK. And I feel quite unhappy about the recent remix treatment given to this absolute gem by the said The Bush2Bush (as if one of the likes wasn’t already enuff!). This said, rather take this as the unfortunate sign of the current times with average peeps trying to make themselves a name on others’ contributions.
You’re gonna miss me… when I’m gone! As many words gettin’ their whole signification once everything’s reputedly over. Never too late though to express the love one feels, with a special dedication, if you allow me, to our brother Mel (Cheren). Yes Sir, we're gonna miss you... Really! MFSB
