ALPHONSE MOUZON
By All Means
Excaliber |
Music is A language and, getting from this, is more likely to evolve when used, like any other of the likes, as an expression tool between people. One reason why, no surprisingly, disco and funk keep on being considered as absolute models in terms of… musicianship is the presence of incredible line-ups of artists comin’ from a whole bunch of different horizons. Beginning with the jazzmen, already and per definition, accustomed jammin’ together. And that’s pretty much what US drummer Alphonse Mouzon did on this silky funk groove, alongside luminaries such as Freddie Hubbard, Herbie Hancock, Lee Ritenour, Paul Jackson and Scott Edwards. Taken from the album of the name released on the highly respected MPS jazz label, this cut was to find a home as a 12’’ on this no less reputed British imprint back in the daze, resulting in this pure 13’.35’’ bliss!
