ESTHER PHILLIPS
Home Is Where The Hatred Is
Kudu |
Dia-monds-are-for-e-ver… Such as this Gil Scott-Heron originally penned song, the thema of which most sadly remains more than ever up to date more than 30 years after!!! Among my alltime top 10 favorites, it was to receive a cover version reaching unsuspected heights by the likes of the late exquisite Esther Phillips, much more reknown for her ‘What A Difference A Day Makes’ disco hit a bit later on. Her vibrant interpretation of course, but also the awesome arrangements by producer Pee Wee Ellis, being for much on the legendary aspect of that monument of soul. Enjoy… MFSB
