RANDOLPH
About Last Night
(Mahogani Music)

Well, well, well… The archetyp of the underground production. No names, no pics,
no infos, no address ! In other words, music that speaks for itself and Gosh, it
speaks at its best. But what about the usual comment supposed to make the review
??? Alright, guess I'm not doing a mistake by saying this label is one of
Moodyman's imprint, so I suppose this is the work of some Detroit people and the
closest name to come to mind is Paul Randolph's, a local soul singer who
had a wonderful cut on KMS… Well whoever this is, what we've got here is a
definite peace of art from its vocal parts to its soulphonkjazzy environment
over some phat bassline and subtle keys. The second mix goes to some more deep
abstract territory carrying spoken words. While the B-side is very much
reminiscent of those Marvin Gaye's unforgettable arrangements.
Need I say more ?
