Tuesday March 18th, we travel across the Charles River to Boston's sister city Cambridge home of MIT & Harvard University to a venue called the Middle East. Special guest for the evening is no other than Amp Fiddler.
I arrived at about 10:30 pm the vibe was nice opening the night we had two of Boston’s premier DJ's KC Hallet (Soul Revival) & Brynmore (whos famous for his Reggae/Dub style). Amp Fiddler came on soon after and right off the bat he got the energy level to a point where he got you thinking this is the spot to be tonite! Starting things off with songs from the new album Afrostrut available on itunes. Let me tell you if you havent had a chance to see this brother perform live, gotdamn! this dudes roots from the "D" (Detroit that is) shine right thru, actually Amp and his whole band threw down. Every person in the band shined so if you wanted to get a different perspective and focus on another talent alls you needed to do was watch and listen. The highlight of the night was when Amp performed "I’m Doing Fine" by this time the crowd was connected, when it got to the bands introductions and solos they showed you they belong on stage. The drummer off the hook, bass player off the hook, then the backup singers... these ladies brought it nonstop. Giving you the deepness than right back at you with the strong vocals, Jocelyn Brown & Aretha Franklin would be proud. All in all the night was dope and the vibe was just the same, if you have an oportunity to see Amp live do yourself a favor, check them out! He will be performing Friday March 28th during Miami's WMC’08 at the Roots party with Louie Vega and guests.
