SPIRITOFHOUSE.COM :
ALWAYS THERE !
|
Here we go again ready for another ride in the heat of Miami with none other than long time friend IDMW Swiss correspondant and head of spiritofhouse.com Michael Fossati…

Gruezi Mike, getting yourself ready for another round in Miami. How many times have you been there?
This will be my 8 consecutive time since 2001.
Quite a regularity since all this time. What motivates you keepin’on goin’ there from a year to another?
Certainly not the value of the Conference itself... It is all about meeting friends, making new contacts and of course having lots of fun in the sun !!!
I guess you must have seen quite some change from the very first time til now… So to try makin’ this balanced, one word in regards to the good as the bad aspects…
The good thing is that Miami is a great location, and almost all the main figures will be there. The bad thing is that the Conference has lost its focus...
You’ve managed to have your name among the very rare taste makers within our community along the years. Has this made it easier for you as far as bein’ given the right info at the right time is concerned?
Having a long lasting reputation is essential to be recognized as an actor within the community, especially in today’s world where content is available to a far broader audience by just a few clicks with people gettin’ more selective nowadays with giving out information and music.
I’ve pointed out your regularity earlier. Knowing that you have a full time job aside, how do you manage to always have your weekly selection on time, not to mention your radio show on MixTheGroove?
It’s tough keeping up with that schedule... It’s all about discipline, knowing when getting up on Saturday morning a lot of work is ahead while others enjoy the weekend...
You’ve started this new experience only a few months ago. Let us know about it… I mean how is it as compared to write reviews? Has this brought you any extra thing in terms of impact and if so, what?
It's different. SpiritofHouse is all about bringing new music to the people, whereas the MixTheGroove mixshow allows me to create a mixture of fresh and classic tunes, and sometimes also to break out of the genre and play something people wouldn’t expect. This mixshow simply lets me show a different side of mine.
This said, I don’t think MixTheGroove is getting the appreciation it deserves at the moment. Probably because there are too many internet radio stations/shows or podcasts available. But it certainly opens SpiritofHouse to a new audience.
Any new names to watch out? Any new music which should do its way this year in Miami?
As every year, loads of new music will be passed around, and many new faces will be sighted. However I got the feeling that there won’t be THE tune of the Conference as there is just too much music out there and a lot of it is already on rotation.
I do believe the upcoming Fanatix This thing of ours album will get a lot of talk and spinning as every single track is just fuckin’ brilliant !!! And then you have other fantastic releases such as Ralf GUM’s ‘All This Love For You’ which I believe has got what it takes to become a Conference favorite…
What is it to expect from Spiritofhouse this year? From you as our correspondant in charge of the SpiritOfMiami series of editorials???
I haven’t planned anything special, I try to take the things as they come and make the best out of it. After all, Miami should be more fun than work, shouldn’t it??? (MFSB)
