BROTHERS’ VIBE
El Baile
(SOM Underground) |
Quite surprising as a matter of fact how despite the presence of a consistent & active Hispanic community, rare have been the experiences melting Spanish lyrics with the said modern groove, to the notorious exceptions of highly sought after disco act La Charanga, ‘Celebramos’ and ‘Te Olvidare’ respectively the adapations of disco/funk hits of ‘Celebration’ and ‘Gonna Get Over You’ by the likes of their original singers themselves (respectively Kool & The Gang and Canadian female singer France Joli). Quite surprising knowing the contribution of countless Hispanic producers from Cole & Clivilles to Masters At Work to make this short. And that’s exactly were Brothers’ Vibe (Tony Rodriguez) was to be found on this 2000 released absolute jewel featuring sensuous spoken words courtesy of percussionist Eddie Cruz over a rumblin’ groove. More than 11 minutes of continuous pleasure hearin’ this sensitive man developpin’ a seductive monologue around the thema ‘tellin’ you who I am and you’ll tell me who you are’… And frankly speakin’, the more he says, the more you can nuttin’ but want’… Ooops, I was to forget, our man Tony will be sitting on the driver’s seat on UDM Show in a fortnight, meanwhile answering our Q’s here on IDMW.
