THE ISLEY BROTHERS
It’s A Disco Night (Rock Don’t Stop)
Part 1 & 2
(Tneck/Promo) |
Oh yes, those of us who were around back in the day may have reached the age of being considered as grandfas nowadays, with our hairs getting white when still havin’ some, but I hardly can’t think of a more boiling period as far as the quintessence of the groove is concerned. Not to say nuttin’ happens today nor being nostalgic, but the big difference as compared to the times we’re currently living is that most of the acts who were around at the time had indeed a scenic atttitude which would be for more in their recognition added to the fact that no real formatting process was around allowing a bigger diversity back then. The extremely rich repertoire of the family Isley being a blatant illustration to this, able to come up from some of the most sensuous ballads you’d ever think of to some of the hottest jams around, not to mention anthems such as ‘Twist & Shout’ in… 1962, ‘It’s Your Thing’ 7 years later then ‘Fight The Power’ and ‘Harvest For The World’ in the mid 70’s to name a few. The aforementioned adding to the reputation of that funk outfit per excellency if not THE all time band of the genre still around after – would you believe this ? – no less than 6 decades of uninterrupted activities.
