Back in 1986, Peter and Tyrone
were playing at local hotspots like the Surf Club and Cassanovas. But it wasn't
long until they met up with their soon-to-be partner - Shams, and played
their first afterhours together at 110 Spadina. This success was soon followed
by many dance-until-dawn parties at such infamous venues as 1087, Abel, 215
Victoria, and 318 Richmond. Having played host to such visionaries as Robert
Owens, Ten City, Frankie Knuckles and Tony Humphries,
the trio were fast becoming innovators in the underground house scene. By 1991,
the stage was set for the opening of the legendary "Thundergroove Sundays" at
the Oz, which introduced some of the greatest international talentS for the
first time in Toronto. People like DJ Disciple, Roger Sanchez,
David Morales and Todd Terry all were hosted by residents Peter, Tyrone and
Shams. In 1993, Shams started Jinxx Records, and soon after Peter and Tyrone
launched 83 West Records. With all this success the trio soon parted ways with
Peter and Tyrone busy in the recording studio and DJ'ing the European club
circuit (including Ministry of Sound, Hard Times, Bar Rumba, Satellite and The
Hub), and Shams focusing on his label which has released music by Jacksoul,
Ivana Santilli, DJ Sneak, M1, Kenny Glasgow and
others. Garage 416 has managed to bring them back together for one
night to commemorate their legendary contribution to the Toronto house scene.
