Part of DJ Oji's
Underground X-Perience album which, to me stands as one of last year's most
underrated efforts, this piece of contemporary groove gets a new life, being
released as a single on Blaze's label. What's on display here stands as a
brilliant reminder of what the so called Brit soul had on offer by the likes of
Soul II Soul, seing its various instrument parts (keys, brass synths over
a phat bassline and Afro-Brazilian percussions) as if they were giving their cue
to each other – not to mention Una's outstanding vocal performance - in a
very seductive if not magnetic way due to the syncopation of the groove. Another
one of those timeless corkers that DC Sanctuary resident DJ has to be trully
thanked for.
