Movin.'. Celebrated Bay Area DJ/Producer Julius Papp started NeoDisco
last year as a means to release his music in his way. Now, Julius comes correct
with this deftly mixed 12 track disc highlighting the NeoDisco sound as well as
some of the hottest and most soulful House Music from the West Coast and beyond...
Right from the get go - the sound of someone walking in a room and putting on a
record- we know there's a DJ behind this mix. Jumping off on a sweaty note with
Julius's own "Voodoo Beats Part 4," it's out of the bush and into the club with
Loveslap's splendid house mix of R&B chanteuse Goapele’s lovely radio jam
"Closer," followed by Harley & Muscle's sublime rework of Julius's "Dame
Mas." The energy steadily builds through "Nekoosa," with it's rumpshaker break
and trumpet stabs, and the space funk of "Early Departure." By the opening notes
of Hardsoul and Ron Carroll's club smash "Back Together," we're
achieving critical mass. Having broken it all down, Julius puts it back together
in fine style with the jazzy UBP rub of Galaxy People, before
peaking again with two more chunky NeoDisco throwdowns, "Feel the Rhythm" and "Gotta
Keep Movin.' Check the action in the mix here, kiddies, and don't sweat the
technique. Then a well-timed left turn with Charles Spencer's smoked out,
jackin' "Board Meeting," and a last taste of the soul with Migs and
Li'Sha's gorgeous "Do It For You." With the feisty "Drums de Voodoo pt.2"
it's back out to the bush again. Let that sweat dry...
