MFSB who celebrates his 30th year… in da
mix this year is back on action with the follow up to his series of mixtapes,
blending classics and hard to find tunes from those days remembered as the
burgeoing period that would give birth to the international dance music culture.
So What you're gonna get on this section is a weekly series of numerized
mixtapes that he's done throughout the years, should it be early house, R&B,
disco, downtempo, soul funk and the likes. Welcome on board…
Starting this new mixtape with the ones who
would litteraly invent a style on its own Jazzie B & Nellee Hooper (see
our forthcoming summer edit to be online the day after tomorrow) and the so
called Brit soul here fronted by lead vocalist Caron Wheeler. We then
follow the vibe with Kariya before going for some streetbeat as provided
by producers L.A. Reid & Babyface for former Shalamar co lead
singer Jody Watley. Then we make a stop by new jack swing mentor Teddy
Riley who would produce tons of jams for people like Guy (his group
at the time), Keith Sweat, Johnny Kemp ; not to mention Today
and Déjà + falsetto singer David Peaston (both of'em here after),
Chaka Khan and unforgettable duet Womack & Womack. Let's funk
tonight !
