MFSB who
celebrates his 30th year… in da mix this year is back on action with the follow
up to his series of mixtapes, blending classics and hard to find tunes from
those days remembered as the burgeoing period that would give birth to the
international dance music culture. So What you're gonna get on this section is a
weekly series of numerized mixtapes that he's done throughout the years, should
it be early house, R&B, disco, downtempo, soul funk and the likes. Welcome on
board…
All of those who've
spent some time in UK at the end of the 80's would tell you that everything was
mixed to make a whole without any distinction of origins or genre as brilliantly
demonstrated by Jeff Young on his Friday nite memorable Big Beat
show on BBC Radio One. Well nothing but the pursuit of that
clubbing culture that DJ's like Larry Levan, David Mancuso and the
likes a bit more than 10 years earlier on would put the shapes to. This is why
you are too find here a bit of bits and bops, from the underground to a
mainstream perspective as shown by the presence of two productions from
Stock, Aitken & Waterman (The Reynolds Girls and Kylie Minogue)
whose works would represent some approx 60% of the single sales on the British
market in 1989 ! But also Samantha Fox and a remix of The Real Thing's
funk classic "Can You Feel The Force". Meanwhile the underground would be
represented by Steve 'Silk' Hurley having revamp activities for soul diva
Roberta Flack and Farley JackMaster Funk covering James Brown
classic "Think" and, to a lesser extend, Raven Maze with his most
remembered cut released on Dave Lee's label Republic Records
