MFSB who celebrates his 30th year…
in da mix this year is back on action with the follow up to his series of
mixtapes, blending classics and hard to find tunes from those days remembered as
the burgeoing period that would give birth to the international dance music
culture. So What you're gonna get on this section is a weekly series of
numerized mixtapes that he's done throughout the years, should it be early
house, R&B, disco, downtempo, soul funk and the likes. Welcome on board…
Definitely on the house tip editorially
speaking with our last and forthcoming Summer Edits successively
dedicated to Marshall Jefferson and Lil'Louis as well as on this
mixtape # 16. A said genre that was (also) a whole on its own at the time
whatever its concept was (deep, hip house, latin, etc). Meanwhile Detroit
Inner City was scoring a hit with what was to be considered as the first
ever so called techno tune but what was techno if not a houselike approach of
the things as shown there with this remix of "Good Life" by Steve 'Silk'
Hurley ? Chicago was definitely around with people like Peter Black,
hip house mentor Tyree 'Turn Up The Bass' Cooper, not to mention
Ten City who releasing their debut single simultaneously with CeCe
Rogers (both produced by Marshall Jefferson) were paving their way to become
the best house group of all the times. Although worth to listen, that B-side of
Sterling Void's "Alright" cover version by UK outfit The Style Council
giving another sign of their versatility, and NY latin songstress Liz Torres
with another of her few gems called "Mama's Boy" and the ultra powerful Joe
Church's "I Can't Wait Too Long". Freak out…
