Brazil and the number 10 – Pele, ten medals at the Athens Olympic Games,
ten neighbouring countries… err… that’s all I can think of at the moment… but
added to this glamorous and historic list next week… TEN YEARS OF FAR OUT! Check
below for a super-special chance to win a big chunk of the Far Out back
catalogue on CD or vinyl…
We’re celebrating
(as I’m sure you know by now) with the man like Kenny Dope – his ‘Brazilika!’
mix CD hits the shops over the coming week or so… Kenny’s been sleeping on the
floor of the office, he’s been so keen to help out – making cups of tea, tidying
up my desk – he just loves Far Out! This is one serious mix of Far Out material
– some real obscurities mixed in among the classics, also featuring Kenny’s bomb
remixes of Sabrina Malheiros and Natures Plan that have been so
troubling your local record shop proprietor…
Over the next year
we’ve got some really heavyweight material coming up – singles with remixes from
Mark de Clive Lowe, Waajeed, Incognito, Jazzanova,
as well as a cheeky little remix project from the Troubleman, and that
absolutely astonishing new album from Azymuth. On the horizon too for
next spring are new albums from Sabrina Malheiros, Grupo
Batuque, Democustico and the Ipanemas, as well as the
mysterious Panther… All in all a very tasty lineup, as we’re sure you’ll
agree.
This Monday, form
an orderly queue outside your favourite record shop, cos that stunning broken
beat Papillon 12”, ‘Chase Your Tail’, with contributions from Marcos
Valle and Tina Grace drops…
Our delicious
competition this week is a bit of a stunner – the chance to win an enormous
chunk of our back catalogue on either vinyl or CD… Just answer the following
question, and let us know whether you’d prefer vinyl or CD... answers to

Level 42 (appearently)
Fela Kuti
season at the Barbican, London… Tony Allen, Roy Ayers, Femi
Kuti, Seun Kuti…. You don’t see that sort of lineup every day (unless
you were one of Fela’s wives in the 70s, in which case you probably did, over
breakfast…)
Far Out Crew,
