Nice ! Peace n' Positivity........

Much
said last week about DJ Spinna. Well, the man is here again in this issue
manifesting once again his versatility on the remix front. First of'em comes
with the famous reworks that he's done for some Jackson 5 classics.
Previously only available in Japan, you can now get them on Soul Source label,
including the anthemic "ABC" with a drop a reggae flava but the very best of
this 4-tracker is no doubt the trully vibrant "One More Step" : waow, what the
F*** ! Some mo' Spinna's touch comes with the latest Bah Samba Offering —
"It Tastes Good", an original old school funky choon that he has softened in
terms of rhythm ; the aforementioned becoming a cool R&Bish swing along cut (Estereo).
Long time runner — remember his works under the Toni! Tony! Tone!'s guise
— Rafael Saadiq provides us another piece of beauty with the smooth
swinging "Sky's The Limit" ; something that looks like an anthem as to begin a
new romance story (Yam). And no doubt, Dwele's "Find A Way" from his soon
to be released debut-LP has that same potential (Virgin). The third single to be
taken from Blaze's latest album, Spritually Talking (on Slip'N'Slide)
sees the Jersey duet coming to some midtempo territory with the vocal
contribution of Amira. A cool tune in its original form that (also) gets
an retro cool phonky treatment from swedish producer, Redtop, in a far
much interesting way than Restess Soul.
Thanks for the links.
Interesting newsletter that'll be on our site. Can't wait to listen to Dwele's
album (Frederic

Joaquin Runs The Voodoo Down…
Quite an explicit title for Joe Claussell's latest
experimentations regrouped on what appears to be an album without no official
label. Rich percussions tessitures, subtle strings line with somehow a
psychedelic led make this collection very interesting for the ones in search of
different thangz. And a special mention to the plaintive "You Don't Know What
Love Is" on a slightly more groovy vein. Much spirituality, versatility on
Rise Ashen's "Earth Dragon EP" that — as the album of the same name —
should please the ethno vibes aficionados ; check out the hypnoitic "Howdoyouliveyourlife"
and the magnificient "Earth Dance" going from spoken words on a cool
afro/jazz/funk jamaican atmosphere to some midtempo territory on a house beat (Fossifuel).
Formerly under license with Jive Electro, californian outfit, Dubtribe Sound
System has a new deal in Europe with Defected Records. As we're already
waiting for their nu effort, they deliver us a four-track sampler — "Bagage" —
going into some real cool groovy vibes, like the sensual and appealing "The
Rhythm In Your Mind" amongst others.
Hang on, I have just realised
who has been sending me this mail !

No doubt neither, Spacek
is a name to be followed on the soul scene. A british band that has already
started to gain a reputation here in Europe for its original approach. What we
could call some blue eyed nu soul or nu blue eyed soul as shown on their latest
single, "Motion Control" bw "It's Not Gonna Happen" (!K7). Same comment applies
to Emo. Remember his stunning "Relief For Free" song with a remix from
Butti49 ? Well, this danish true talent is back on the blocks with a soon to
be released debut-LP and a new single called "First Time Experiences" featuring
Les Gammas. The original version — a ballad containing some subtle dub
influences — goes into a more reggaeish territory as relifted by G-Corp,
before getting a touch of class jazzy treatment by Raw Deal aka Povo
(Stereo Deluxe). On a more contemporary electronic jazzy perspective, check out
swiss collective, Loungechic Productions, on the same label with "Gotta
Do It" featuring the vocals of Jenny Chi. A double 10" that has much on
offer for the amateurs of brazilian vibes. Check out the Fresh Breezin' Mix by
the aformentioned as well as Minus 8's contribution in a deeper
jazzy vein and, for the drum & bass lovers, The Thrust & !Pez's
Speed Movement Re.Lounge version. Quite easy to understand that, although
signed to austrian label Ecco Chamber, Jazzinho has (also) something to
do with Brazil. And it really has, as exemplified by the suave "Consteleção" on
a very much carioca tainted tip. A sandy and sunny song in its original form
that comes with a deep'n'jazzy relifting to be very much considered by Quant.
The bossaish "Simù Ou Não" on the A-side receiving an interesting broken beat
aside. Finishing this cool vibes selction with "Drophere", the new cut from
dZihan & Kamien's second album released last october. A very
nostalgic ballad that is not really a ballad in its original form, delivered
here with a weird uptempo atmospheric breakbeat approach in its DV Rmx
version (Couch Records).
On my way to go for
celebrating 05/01. Back to U next week. Til' then, have some good times.
Peace,
MFSB
Sounds greeeeeeat. Thanks for
sharing the info. Peace, Love & Light
