Oh
yes, guess you must be familiar to this if a regular to IDMW.com,
although one may wonder about the dimension of the mix in itself in today's
world. Something, we definitely have to think about for a better comprehension
of the societies we're living in…
Stating that there's an evolution from a
decade to another is a thang, but thinking that it's necessarily synonymous with
progress is no doubt another one. Of course, much woud have been done to make
our lives easier inbetween (at least on a technological point of view) but what
about the way we're living as individuals ? A simple look at the things back in
the seventies should give a better idea about the why of those current lines and
believe this please, it has nothing to do with nostalgia in any form…
Funny how those spots like the Loft and the
Paradise Garage (le Palace in Paris) remain quoted as some of the ultimate
references in terms of nightclubbing from a period to another. Places where the
mix was ironically far from being the focal thing on people's mind, at least
technically speaking, judging by the works of their residents. People who would
make themselves a name not at all while searching the perfect beat to come in
the previous one, but displaying various atmospheres and moods and subsequently
attracting different people on a particular state of mind. In other words, being
at the opposite way to what's happening nowadays generally speaking, with all
these places which have litterally become the HQ's of tribes on their own with
the help of devoted DJ's.
In fact, nothing here but some other sign
of a more and more fragmented society (ours by the way), the aim of which is to
isolate individuals, thus finding the easiest way to tell them what they have to
do, where, when and this, by any means necessary (specialized TV/radio programs,
mobile computers, game keyboards, cell phones and the likes…), with all the
misunderstandings between people that such a situation may create. And the truth
is that as a result, someone into R&B may turn his back to house music or some
other form of musical expression, simply coz' he would have been told that
house
music was this or that and vice versa, forgetting about the fact that soul may
have various faces whereas the people in question might find what they're
searching for.
Yes folks, it's nothing but dividing for
reigning at the end of the day while trying to get us on more and more
restricted areas which incidentally ends up as being the exact opposite not only
to the idea of freedom but also to the abitily of knowing each other.
Once again, gotta remember what was the
idea of the late Fabrice Emaer while launching le Palace which'd been for
much in his success and no doubt what makes the health (and the wealth) of a
society comes from the variety and… the mix of its components, simply because
black wouldn't have any signification if not confronted to the white and vice
versa, not to mention the existence of the other colours, and I guess that's
about the same when talking about sounds, fragrances, tastes, but also materials
and eras (cf. the Arts Déco period). Not talking about the principle of life
which simply wouldn't be without the mixing a male and a female… As simple as
said, isn't it ? MFSB
