Once
again, I guess I may not make friends with the following. Oh yes, I can already
feel some of you thinking : what is he again to talk about this time ? Well,
simply can't help myself doing what I consider to be my job as an observer while
providing you the best way I can with the right info at the most possible right
time. This meaning not only via interviews or reviews, but also with questions
that some of you forward us and elements of reflection that today's situation
suggests me when so many of my collegues around look like happy to discourse
upon nothing but say, the forecast !
Oh yes, I sometimes tell myself how it
would be more comfortable buzzin' off rather than tickling boys next door with
things they don't wanna hear. Alas, many of us tend to have like forgotten that
it's supposed to be the media's job to question the public opinion if not the
Power when in front of things needing an appropriate answer.
As a matter of fact, I remember last March
in Miami when I got invited by the WMC' officials to participate to a panel
dedicated to the evolution of the press incl. its capacity to help breakin' an
artist and guess what : I never heard at any time anything about house music and
can't even remember hearing the name itself at an event which has made its
reputation (and money as well) from OUR community. People sitting around would
just talk about mainstream acts and trendz the way they usually do in UK from
01/01 til 12/31 although the death of many publications tends to mean that they
less and less respond to the expectations of their readers. You dare ! What is
it now to spend some summer time in Beefa (pardon me if not UK citizens ; Ibiza
!) ??? Nuts as it's a bit more and more like it each year in Miami since WMC'
has left its long time base at the Fontainebleau-Hilton ! And what mainly
happened over there during the week. Parties, parties and parties when so many
members of OUR community would need to gather and find responses facing today's
situation. Then you have those DJ's who, instead of doing the part of their jobs
as prescriptors, flatter their egos, providing us with playlists full of
unavailable material, thus creating a logical feeling of frustration on their
fans. And you also have those doin' bootlegs on the back of their collegues, the
ones exchanging material on file sharing system, then those websites purveying
free downloads. Tell you what, bros, it's more of a rock'n'roll suicide, it's a
collective auto-murdering as it's nearly the whole system which is perverted.
And you think we oughtta stay like this without saying a single word ? Of
course, it won't probably be televised but as Lars Bartkhun of Needs
recently stated here at IDMW.com, there has to be a revolution one
day or another…
This is not just a rock'nroll suicide !
