For the past two years, Soulfuric label
headz Brian Tappert & Marc Pomeroy, have been developing Traxsource
– the MP3 download site that offers the finest house music on the web, in
the most accessible and user-friendly format.
Fully embracing the latest technology,
including unique and pioneering anti-file sharing watermarking, they’ve tagged
the project Traxsource - the Future of House, and so it is.
Traxsource aims to bring house music to the masses, and with fans now
having access to the complete catalogues of labels including Defected,
Onephatdeeva, Basement Boys, Distant, Dtension, Gossip, Knee Deep, Soulfuric, Z
Records & Papa, they look set to do just that.
One of the greatest stumbling blocks to a
flourishing independent music scène has been distribution, however
Traxsource has nailed that problem – and nailed it on one. Now the music
will never be out of stock, and now the shop will never be closed... With it’s
unique, custom built interfaces, package deals that include bonus files of
unreleased mixes or artwork, 2 bit rates, the world’s best search engine and the
Soulfuric stamp of quality, Traxsource has been designed for
anyone who loves music. Its for the people that go to the clubs, follow the djs
and dance and scream when their favorite tracked are played Equip with a sales
chart and with prices ranging from 99 cents to 1.99 per mix, its primary focus
has been accessibility.
Brian
Tappert says: As an industry, we need to let the world know they can now
purchase their favorite titles. Traxsource will be reaching out to people inside
the clubs. Traxsource is not trying to replace vinyl, it’s about adding a
new format, more specifically the newest most popular format. We don’t make the
rules, we just play by them. The consumer has decided and downloads are the
format of choice. We believe we went wrong as an industry a long time ago by not
embracing CD technology and we don’t want to make the same mistake twice.
With Soulfuric, we have attempted to add
CD's to our formats for years.. The problem is the distribution infrastructure
doesn’t want them. From the specialty shops to the distributors, independent
house labels have had little chance to move with the times. Now this has all
changed.
Anti-file sharing... Bootleggers beware!!!
Traxsource feel the watermarking
technology is truly the future of digital files – it’s new and it’s the only
thing that actually works. Traxsource know that there is no 100% bullet proof
answer to fix file sharing, but with watermarking technology, people will at
least know if the files they have purchase turn up on peer 2 peer networks, they
can be traced directly back to them. Traxsource.Com will take every action
possible by law to protect the rights of its labels.
So here we are...a new day, with
new technologies at our disposal and a new generation of music lovers out there.
We believe as an industry that if we don’t embrace new technologies NOW we will
become extinct. Trends come and go, people change, formats change, but the one
thing that will always remain is the music…and our passion for it.
