It’s obviously not the case of an evergreen Roy Ayers, who, some 36 years after his first recording, looks like ready to cause another stir with a new collection of his awaited at the end of January. Funny enough to see that there’s no new music at all there, as everything has been carefully choosen from a pile of unreleased songs originally recorded at the end of the 70’s/beg of the 80’s. Yes folks, get ready for what has made Roy’s reputation over merely three decades : what I’d like to call a supreme de groove, blending soul, jazz and funk ingredients at its best.
