LARS BARTKUHN & HIS PASSION DANCE ORCHESTRA
Dreamland
Needs Music
(Almost) everything seems like said as to what to
be expected here, from the references of this release themselves to the artwork
of its sleeve as shown here above. One third of respected Frankfurt A/Main bad
production team Needs along with a first solo effort made of transporting
vibes to some… dreamy/introspective territory. Expect nothing but subtle
arrangements and silky melodies whatever the tempo may be on a vein reminding
much of those developped by Chris Brann or (rhythmically speaking) Ron
Trent Stateside. Hard to dissociate those works from the Needs'ones,
Lars B being, as he recently said on those pages what we may consider as
the musical director inside the German threesome. Needless to specify the fact
that we get ourselves dived into the very deep of latin, (nu) jazz, funk and
house influences whereas contrasts are for much in the brilliance of the
atmospheres on display. From contemplative moods tinged with a bit of melancholy
to stirring warm grooves as "Discover The Word", "Treasure Everywhere" and "Dreamland"
most notoriously. MFSB
