GREYMATTER featuring EMMA BRAMMER - "I Wish You Knew" (Souled Remix) (Unique Uncut Records Digital Download)
Souled take on Greymatter's debut single "I Wish You Knew" which features a sensitive vocal performance by Emma Brammer, reworking it into a truly deep affair with a rough edge that features lovely keys that together with the stompin' beats and vocals create a mesmerizing feeling. Exclusive Review: JIMMY ABNEY - "Hello" (Martin Faltin Remix) (CD-R)
Martin Faltin takes on Jimmy Abney's "Hello" (taken form the recently released Return To Forever album, available on Yoruba Records) bringing the loungey original to the soulful dancefloors by adding a laidback groove underneath the original orchestration on his 'Smooth Remix', while the 'Dope Remix' makes use of heavy beats and drums to intensify the vibe while keeping it soulful all the way.
H&H SOULSURVIVORS featuring CAZZA - "He'll Be Right There" (Remixes) (Beat Monkey/CD Promo)
The beautiful "He Will Be Right There" by H&H Soulsurvivors gets wonderfully reworked by Jonny Montana who takes the bumpy broken beat track that features an inspirational vocal courtesy of Cazza to the next level by using a smooth yet captivating groove and masterly performed keys and synths (you can choose between vocal and instrumental versions). Also included in the package is a remix by Calssy Menace who takes the track straight to the main floor with his energetic vibe.
NAKED SOUL featuring GLENN UNDERGROUND "Muzic EP" (Music Plan Tracks/CD Promo)
DJ Fritz (aka Soul Child) and DJ Pap are Naked Soul who team up with Glenn Underground on this magnificent three track deep house EP. Kicking things off is the smoothly stompin' "Chicago Connection" that features sexy female vocals alongside atmospheric keys and chords over a percussion enriched groove, followed by "Free Form" which is on a more relaxed vibe and features marvelous jazzy keys alongside wicked percussion elements. Lastly there is the fast paced "Los Hermanos" that combines jazzy keys with classy horns and atmospheric synths into an uplifting dancefloor shaker.
MATTHEW BANDY - "Human" (Revival Records/CD Promo)
This… "Human" is real deepness, with thumpin' beats leading the way for sweet percussion, melodic synths, lush organ chords and a wicked male spoken word. Jamie Thinnes relaxes the vibe on this 'Seasons Revisited Mix', giving it a laidback feeling with sweet keys, while Jay Tripwire uses hard hitting beats and spaced-out synths to create a piece of interstellar deep house. Lastly there is the moody 'Mikez Creation Edit' that drops most of the vocals while adding a hot guitar and cool synths.
MUSICAL SOLUTION presents BPM featuring PETE SIMPSON - "Sing It" (Reelgroove/CD Promo)
Musical Solution team up with singer Pete Simpson to deliver a soulful house masterpiece featuring an outstanding vocal that comes your way in a variety of breath taking mixes. First is John Mateo whose vocal is a smooth laidback affair full of wonderful melodies, while the dub gets way deeper and takes the track to the underground floors with a pumpin' feel and captivating chords. Label head Greg Dorban's interpretation is masterly orchestrated and oozes with its classy soul/funk flavors, while Central Avenue deliver peak time magic on their 'Club Dub' that features catchy synths over a resistless bumpy groove. Last but not least there is Darryl James' reworking that gives the track an organic feel, keeping the vibe deep and soulful.
DJ APHREME featuring DONNA HIDALGO - "Your Love" (Consortium Muzik/CD Promo)
DJ Aphreme (aka Martin Mamzer) presents an energetic yet soulful production featuring a passionate vocal performance by Donna Hidalgo over a fiercely stormin' groove enriched with wicked synths and melodic chords that together with the vocals create an irresistible feeling. DJ Oji delivers a splendid re-edit of the song that twists a few things here and there, giving you the choice between two equally slammin' vocal takes. An instrumental completes the package.
MIX2INSIDE featuring JOYCE ELAINE YUILLE - "My Best Thing" (Part Two) (Mix2Inside/CD Promo)
Italian label Mix2Inside/Pret A' Porter Music return with a soulful remix package of "My Best Thing" which features a passionate vocal by songstress Joyce Elaine Yuille. The 'Soul Eternity Vox' is spreading an uplifting feeling through the vocals and organic instrumentation that has a real live touch to it. The 'Naked Sax Remix' gives the whole a more laidback and deeper feel, with parts of the vocals stripped to let a jazzy sax do the talk. M-Sol comes up with a fiercely thumpin' instrumental remix to the release that is all about phat keys, sweet synths and a lovely funky guitar.
SONNY J MASON - "Life Is The Music" (Salted Music/CD Promo)
London's Sonny J Mason delivers a beauty with "Life Is The Music", a midtempo soul stomper that is oozing with its funk, hip hop and R&B flavors, featuring an uplifting vocal with positive meaning. Miguel Migs reshapes the track for the house floors, with his 'Salted Vocal' being an infectious funky house reworking with lush synths that brings out the best of the uplifting vocals. His 'Salted Dub Deluxe' strips it down and lets the synths turn slightly techy, while the 'Bump the Tech Dub' uses an old school flavored breakbeat groove as playground for a gritty bassline and wicked synths. Lastly there is the beautiful 'Petalpusher Vocal' which is a melodic deep house interpretation with a great breakdown that makes use of that massive breakbeat groove introduced in the 'Bump the Tech Dub'.
URSULA RUCKER - "Untitled Flow" (Kenny Dope & Franck Roger Remixes) (Vega Records/Digital Download)
One of last year’s biggest underground tracks is back in fresh remixes by Kenny Dope and Franck Roger who both add their unique touch to spoken word-led "Untitled Flow" by Ursula Rucker. Kenny Dope's fiercely stormin' mixes feature an acid-tinge which maximize the spoken words into a hypnotizing affair, while Franck Roger takes the track to deeper grounds on a slightly dark techified edge. Digital downloads available at Dancetracks
DJ DEALER featuring LISA MILLETT - "You're All I Need" (Look At You/CD Promo)
This is the first single lifted from DJ Dealer's Joyride album, with Lisa Millett providing the inspirational vocals on this cover of the Ashford & Simpson classic. Lots of versions to choose from, with DJ Dealer offering the original (album) version, a 'Chorus Dub' and instrumental. Staffan Thorsell and MoD team up on a deepened down affair featuring great keys and synths over thumpin' beats, while Joe DiPadova & Shea Marshall give the track a kickin' edge with wicked synths accompanying the vocals. Charles Dockins goes dark and dirty with his acid-tinged take, while Tony Loreto turns out a deep anthemic reworking featuring lush synths and chords (now do we hear some reminiscence to the classic Frankie Knuckles remix of Melanie Williams' "Everyday Thang"?). Lastly Madueno delivers a hypnotizing dub with phat synth stabs.
YASS - "My Only" (Defected/CD Promo)
Up and rising French producer Yass drops his latest bomb "My Only" featuring a passionate vocal performance by Leslie O'Smith over a resistless percussion enriched groove, with the captivating keys and chords perfectly harmonizing with the vocals to create an uplifting feeling that is guaranteed to ignite the dancefloors. The 'Deepa Dub' drops most of the vocals for a deeper vibe, while the 'Peaktime' mixes (vocal and dub) fire things up a bit for an even more intense vibe perfect for those bigger rooms or peak time play.

Politics Of Dancing: (DOCTORIN’ THE HOUSE) FOLLOW THE GUIDE…
|

(DOCTORIN’ THE HOUSE) FOLLOW THE GUIDE…
Prescriptor: The one who establishes official rules, laws, or directions.
From the Latin verb praescribere : prae-, pre- + scribere
Who/what would each of us ever be without references? Without a single doubt, almost nuts as experience is the fuel of our evolution both as individuals and societies. This meaning the necessary existence of elder people to transmit their knowledge from a generation to each other as there’s no possible conception of future without past itself leading to present time…
The Africans, speakin’ of which God knows how they are highly wise tend to say that should a grandma disappear and it’s like a library comin’ to flames. It is to say how they have a huge consideration of those reputedly in charge of their common heritage. The latest getting it themselves from elders and the list goes on endly til the beginning of humanity… And it mosdef appears there’s no exception whatever we may think of or whoever we are, Europeans, Asians, Americans or whatsoever, regardless the differences of our respective cultures…
I guess, to a big majority of us, the first people comin’ to mind when speakin’ of a prescriptor would then be the one known as the doctor in medicine. A man who, comin’ to examine us, will deliver a prescription supposedly to relieve our diseases on the basis of a diagnostic itself derived from the accumulation of knowledge. But a prescriptor is also to a wider extend the one we refer to on the basis of the relation he’s managed to establish – most likely his reputedly credibility – with the subject of our respective interests along the years. This said, and as the semantic of its name suggests, his position is firmly related to the idea of upfront expression. Prae meaning ante (for anterior), then scribere, writing…
Judging by the current state of the house scene and its crucial lack of exposure, no need to say how the existence of prescriptors is more than ever capital. And, once again, I would like to address those lines to the handful of those – most likely label managers and producers – who, despite being offered support and visibility, not only fail to transmit the informations, but on most cases do not even respond to mails, phone calls or whatever. And, as a result, I hardy can’t help myself thinking how this kind of attitude can be self-destructive as most likely based on a certain ignorance, not to say a disinterest of who’s doin’ what if ever since when on our whole scene.
Open our eyes, said Marshall Jefferson presenting a memorable project known as The Truth on the now defunct Big Beat label. It was some 20 years ago… MFSB

IDM News: TraxsourceINDAMIX (HOUSE, GARAGE & OTHER ILLICIT GROOVES...) Issue # 10
|
Time’s flying as ever with, as announced on our previous Issue, a new delivery of not to be missed goodies aptly designed to heat our hearts, bodies & souls during the Summer, be they vocal, abstract, banging and eventually chilling. Welcome to this already 10th installment of our fortnightly rendez-vous…

One word if you allow me before goin’ any further as to remain true to my reputation of being someone who’s never minced words…Quite ironical to see to see how the dematerialization of media has to some extend made the things harder for us – the reputedly observers – to be provided with the infos… the music in order to simply do our job at the most acurate time. And although I may understand the fear of some people to have their sales potential ruined because of eventual illegal sharing, I guess I’ll never stand the attitude of a handful of those who, being addressed messages, never give a single answer. Quite a curious conception of PRing I would be tempted to say, if not civility within a scene which has been suffering from a lack of visibility for an eternity despite the existence of real talents deserving far more than what’s offered to them nowadays. Anyway, understand this whoever will… Time to focus on (far) more positive sides and God (hopefully) knows how there are many…
Summer has never seemed so close and it’s definitively perceptible musically speakin’ with countless cool, friendly, inspiring, atmospheric vibes comin’ out at the moment. As if there was A need for both intimacy and more elaborated productions as opposed to the reputedly festive gang banging stuff destined to fill the biggest floors of the world, beginning with Beefa (Ooops, sorry… Ibiza)!
Definitely far from the aforementioned is Gabriele Poso’s new offering on Yoruba. A 4 tracker consisting in as many remixes of his From The Genuine World album released 3 months ago with our favorite being the smooth & sensous ‘Afrika’ as subtly redesigned by Ezel over a bossa-influenced groove enlightened by aerial synth parts. Rhythm is definitely not (only) a matter of beats. There’s something of both the Naked Music label and Sade on the subtle arrangements delivered by Vincent Valler on his Main Mix of Funktrain featuring Nica Brooke’s aptly titled ‘Sweetly’ sounding like a magnificient blend of atmospheric soul with a slice of pop feel such as championed by Everything But The Girl back in the day (Reelgroove). No matter what or how… The Brits have never reached higher… peaks than when being left with the opportunity to fully express who they are, as brilliantly demonstrated during the acid jazz/rare groove/Brit-soul era from the end of the eighties til the middle of the nineties with Kenny Thomas adding his name to the list back then… And the story to repeat itself nowadays with ‘Sunshine Girl’, an absolute fresh song as reworked by UK DJ/remixer Phil Hooton designing a subtly arranged jazzy environment for much on the ‘friendliness’ of this seducing cool swing (Soul-Fi).

Embedding that soul freshness on their repertoire since day 1 Stateside are without a single doubt Tortured Soul with ‘Your Dream Is My Dream’ taken from their third album to be released after the festive period being NO exception… Distant Music man Jon Cutler adding what it takes to make this a not to be missed affair and definitive alltime classic (Coco Soul). UK band Reel People alongside front man Darien givin’ the aforementioned their clue with the old school sounding ‘Upside’ as retouched by Karizma, somehow reminding of Jamiroquai’s works (Papa Records). Meanwhile Ian Friday goes the opposite way givin’ a subtle NYC flavoured tessiture to the vibrant ‘Broken Dreams’ by the likes of UK collective Ceramic featuring Aisling Stephenson (NYC Soul). Jellybean Soul adding two new episodes to their impressive series of must haves with the brilliant ‘The Lover That You Are’ as remixed by George Mena & Marlon D for Pulse with Antoinette Robertson’s vocal performance somehow reminding of Chaka Khan and Darryl D’Bonneau’s ‘Miracles’ as bumpingly revamped by Jon Cutler…
I guess this may sound far from realistic, but can’t help myself wishin’ good music to be played in big rooms as opposed to the usual flow of seeminglike crap displayed here and there year after year for so long!!! The boiling hot ‘Lover Forevermore Amen’ by Bobby D’Ambrosio alongside female singer Kelli Sae sounding like quite an appropriate choice for the occasion. It’s inspiring, it’s groovy, it’s enlightening, and (of course) it’s definitely entertaining with our preference going to both the sultry Osio Club Mix and the epic B&E’s Save Our Soul Dub (Soulfuric). Meanwhile Dutch pair Roog & Greg aka Hardsoul give a trancey feel to ‘Nothing Better Than Your Lovin’ by the likes of T.J. Cases featuring Natalie Broomes currently causin’ some serious devastation in the clubs (Hardsoul Pressings) with the tribalish ‘Empire Of Africa’ by DJ Romain which we’ve welcomed as our Single Of The Week during the Miami Conf’ deserving a careful listen (Nu Faze)…
Not many are those inclined to vary the pleasures and as a result display a real versatility. Thanks if I may say so to the formats diktat, and props due to Chicago wizard Abicah Soul (Project) for not missing an occasion to show the various sides as to who he is from a release to another with the infamous Part 2 Peak Mix of his eponym cut takin’ us to some deep jazzy tech-influenced frenzy (Abicah Soul Records). We made room for Joe Flame’s ‘Love Is Blind’ on the last issue of TSIDM as a part of his substancial recent efforts. Here we go again this time with the deep and abstract ‘Night Lights’ displaying that plaintive emphasis which would be for much on Larry Heard’s reputation along the years (D#Sharp).
It’s jazzy, it’s groovy, it’s chillin’ it’s soulful and (of course) it’s definitely vibin’. Well it’s pretty much what made the signature of another Chicago hi-lite playin’ keys like no other. His name? GU equally known as Glenn Underground with the exquisite ‘Adore You’ featuring female singer Roxy delivered in two absolute not to be missed versions (Strictly Jaz Unit). Hard not to establish some parental link with the aforementioned while listening to hyperactive Scott Wozniak’s gorgeous ‘Love & Life’, here as well on a deep’n’jazzy sort of plaintive tip over a circular bassline (Refresh). And this series of abstract deep vibes to go further way with NYC-based producer Cassady Locke droppin’ the organ-led ‘1968’ over an Afro-beat influenced rhythm (Esho).
It’s deep, it’s abstract, it’s atmospheric, it’s hypnotizing and (no doubt) it’s definitely devastating with chances to put the Ibiza dancefloors on fire. It’s title? ‘Dancing Strings’ with reminiscences of Sueño Latino’s eponym classic and Soul Central’s… ‘Strings Of Life’ to be credited to vet producer Wayne Gardiner (CIMA). Kerri Chandler sort of going back to da roots with the old school deep acidic vocoderized ‘Fortran’ standing as the absolute piece of choice out of his recent Computer Games LP on French Deeply House Rooted label. Putting an end to our rendez-vous with another subtle blend courtesy of Terry Hunter givin’ a Giorgio Moroder-ish deeplectrodisco tip tinged with jazzy and funky vibes on his fascinating remix of Leonard Part Sixx’s ‘Strobelight Revival’ (T’s Box).
That’s it from us now. Back to you in a fortnight… With usual thanks to spiritofhouse.com and udmshow.com for givin’ extra exposure to this column… Peace y’all. MFSB

Gladly the magnificent remixes by Central Avenue are included as well, with the 'Main Mix' keeping it soulful while being powerful enough for becoming a peak time favorite with the wicked keys and funky bassline groove used. The 'Soulful Mix' is slightly softer, giving it more of a laidback feeling with a relaxed groove and jazzy keys opposite to the dub that is firing things up with a powered up groove and electro keys.
FUZION featuring ANGEL - "Deeper" (Fuzion Dance Remixes) (Fuzion Records/CD Promo)
"Deeper" is lifted from Fuzion's highly acclaimed Lose Control album and features singer Angel Rose. The original album version is wonderfully orchestrated, spreading a laidback vibe through the warm melodies and passionate vocals by the latest. The brand new remixes (vocal/dub/instrumental) are intensifying the vibe with a stormin' groove and resistless keys that together with the vocals create a mesmerizing vibe that will take the dancefloors by storm. Also included is a beautiful new take of "Sax In The City" that is uplifting jazz house at its best.
DADDY FUNK 45 featuring LOVELLA - "Stand Up" (The Remixes) (White Lotus Club/CD Promo)
White Lotus Club present a slammin' remix package of Daddy Funk 45's "Stand Up" which features a passionate vocal by Lovella. Danny Clark & Jay Benham provide an uplifting reworking featuring a resistless piano alongside classic chords and keys over a smooth backing, while the Stereo Mutants use a fierce yet soulful tribal beat as base for the vocals, sweet percussion elements and wicked synths. Divided Soul give the track a main room electro reworking, while Christian Hornbostel goes on a deep, funk oozing interpretation on a slightly dark tip.
VERONIQUE - "Veriations - The EP" (Wallshaker Music Records/CD Promo)
Veronique follows up her last year’s debut single "Use Me" with the wonderful new release "Veriations - The EP". There, we see Malik Alston and Aaron Carl doing production and mixing, while Veronique impresses with her songwriting and vocal skills. "Faith" has a classy old school touch to it and features a male preacher spoken word alongside wicked keys and her passionate vocals. "Beautiful" is on a laidback tip, with a smooth groove leading the way for the vocals, sweet percussion and melodic chords. "Alright" is a duet with Aaron Carl that is nothing else than irresistible with the deeply stompin' groove, lush keys and outstanding vocals. Completing the package is last year’s gospel house smash "Use Me".
BENOIT B - "Love Is So Good" (Gotta Keep Faith/CD Promo)
French DJ and producer Benoit B aka DJ Ben presents the uplifting "Love Is So Good" which features sexy female vocals over a funky backing groove that is enriched with sweet percussion and wicked chords on the main vocal. Together with DJ Lewis, he presents a deep and soulful alteration that is groovy from the beginning to the end. Next we have Richard Earnshaw adding his magic touch to the track to turn it into a resistless bumper for the dance floor. DJ Floy gets deep and gives the track a lovely Latinesque edge, while Alex Dimitri delivers Afro-flavored deepness on his take.
PATRICK GREEN featuring MANON TRUE - "L'Amour" (Sofitone Records/CD Promo)
Patrick Green teams up with Manon True who provides a sexier than sexy French vocal performance on this lovely production. The 'Lunar Mix' is a deeply thumpin' affair featuring phat chords that together with the vocals create a hypnotic vibe. Pashaa is powering up the vibe with stompin' beats while the spacy synths create a resistless feel, while Justin Imperiale's 'Cabana Mix' is a more relaxed, funk oozing affair featuring brilliant keys. For all the creative heads out there, the acapella is included too.

Politics Of Dancing: SAY OOOPS UPSIDE... OUR HEADS!
|
SAY OOOPS UPSIDE… OUR HEADS!
Despite around for quite some time now, I guess I’ll never cease being surprised by the way people are behaving on Internet as compared to like in the streets! As if the fact of sitting behind a screen was the ultimate protection allowing to do whatever we want…
The unceasing development of technology has always been the subject of regular controversies, from the invention of the wheel to the recent dematerialization of both music and paper, with those unevitable critics as to what it is the mother of all the diseases… But even though we can’t deny the fact that evolution has resulted in transition periods along History, let us not forget how the latest – at least til nowadays – has always been put forward by the hands of men themselves. This makin’ them as a consequence more likely responsible of the current problems each of us may encounter when running the countless sophisticated tools we’re surrounded by. This being said, I then can’t help myself thinking how humans’ attitude would pretty much basically remain the same along with time going with the same usual shit resurfacing from a generation to another…
It is to say how the difficulties, if not the crisis our community are facing is nuttin’ of new on any way with their resolution to be first and foremost found on the way each of us reacts as opposed to reject the fault on the evolution of technology. I mean, there has always been disrespectful people not responding to enquiries, people trying to make profit on their alter egos backs and the list goes on, with some actors of our scene – including more or less big names which should recognize themselves – being no exception… In other words, however sophisticated technology shall be, an asshole will always remain an asshole and there’s unfortunately nothing we can do about it, except treating them the way they fully deserve whatever their positions may be. This being probably the biggest favor we could do for the weath of our whole community. Peace, everybody. MFSB

IDM News: TraxsourceINDAMIX (HOUSE, GARAGE & OTHER ILLICIT GROOVES...) Issue # 9
|
Hey, how r’ U doin’, sorry can’t get thru, why don’t you leave your name… Guess you know the rest as we do or should I say we did no later than a week ago with the crash or a hard disk which has got us out of our editorial planning, meaning by that that you’ll be offered 2 issues of our column from this week til the next one with tons of goodies to feed your apetites. So better get your credit cards ready and I’m not even talkin’ about commissioning us for the prescriptional service!!!
A bit more than a month and the festive locations will be taken by storm by cohorts of tourists from all over the places on the North hemisphere of the globe with no bigger wish than escape from reality and legitimately have good time. Hopefully, we look set to be provided with the good vibes that come with. Thanks to our champions…
Quite a while without hearin’ from Glenn Lewis. Our man signs a winning return alongside producer Terry Hunter with the friendly ‘Stay With Me’ enligthened by a Stevie Wonder-influenced interpretation alongside a killing rhythmic guitar part and lush key arrangements over a rumblin’ bassline (T’s Box). Not that much interesting on offer I’m afraid on the remix package of Peyton & The Rhythm Republic’s ‘Never Give Up’ unless being geared towards harder vibes as delivered on the Drive Remix. But at least the opportunity to get back to the explosive Club Mix which was included on the original release for those who’ve missed it a couple of months ago (Peppermint Jam). Always had a particular feel for California-based DJ/producer Stephen Rigmaiden’s approaches. Once gain, he delivers a syncopated intoxicating rhythm, teamin’ up with 5 star vocalist Darryl D’ Bonneau on ‘Sent From Above’. Meanwhile hyperactive Scott Wozniak on the remix duties gives it a typical NYC flavor (Devotion)…
An obvious search for intimacy seems the least to be said about Chez Music label’s return to the release front with the deep & smooth organ-led ‘Triumph’ by the likes of Rob Salmon. Scott… Wozniak adding a drop of depth to the whole with his killing synth lines on his alternative versions. And the same comment to apply to the smooth and sort of plaintive ‘Love Is Blind’ taken from the countless current deliveries to be credited to Joe Flame (D#Sharp). Good music is… yup: timeless! Another proof bein’ given with the rerelease of Abicah Soul Project featuring G.U.’s ‘City Of Jericho’ where is to expect nothing but the very best from the reunion of those two absolute geniuses on this not to be missed jazzy & moody cool groove which should appeal to those into chillin’ atmospheric vibes such as – guess you start knowing who I mean – Jose Padilla, Phil ‘Cantoma’ Mison and Chris ‘Coco’ Mellor (Abicah Soul Records). On a slightly more repetitive/minimalistic mood, Brighton-based producer Bittersuite delivers the bumpin’ ‘Visions’ on a very fascinating way (DeepSystems). Meanwhile, completing the series, comes the abyssal ‘Soulsa’ on a sensuous Latin/jazzy-influenced vein courtesy of Marcelo Cruz enlightened by a seducive sax solo responding to a vibrant key part (Deepnsound).
Brindisi’s famous Beppe Gioia back to his native country after a couple of months by the sunny shores of Miami goin’ deep, abstract and percussive on the moody sort of World-influenced ‘Ivory’ delivered in 4 # versions on Florida-based label Sofitone Records. More surprising is his Lounge Mix of ‘Untitled Fantasy’ under the Soul Oasis presents Beppe Gioia banner on Cyberjamz where he may be heard flirting with bossa, meting deep & jazzy vibes over a lascive groove. Sure to find some bumpin’ stuff when being offered to listen to a new package by the likes of Melchyor A with ‘The Next Big Thing’ being no exception and more precisely the Afro-jazzy flavaed Original Mix over old school friendly spoken words (Soulful Sessions).
Boston, Ma definitely lookin’ set to make itself a place on the map, this time with Universal Tongues alongside male singer Laurel White reachin’ the absolute heights on the infectious soul & jazzy ‘Open Up Your Mind’ and, no surprisingly, the # 1 position on our top 10 this week (Utopia Boston). At the pursuit of the 13th note??? DJ/producer Roland Clark providing exactly what it takes on the hypnotizing ‘Intoxicated’ with awesome keys takin’ the sensuous spoken words performance courtesy of Soul Tempress to anotha level on his Intoxisoul Mix (Delete Records).
2008 should not doubt be a year to remember for Germany-based jock/producer Ralf GUM not only awaited to get married during the Summer, but also because of the current release of his debut LP (Uniting Music) on his own GoGo Music imprint. A subtly crafted collection of fine grooves flirting with broken beat, Afro, Latin and jazz influences (not to mention house) alongside a whole bunch of talented vocalists, with Nicolas Vautier’s usual partner in crime Rachel Claudio taking the centerstage on ‘If No Harm’ adding much to the emphasis of this brilliant and classy production. More about our man on an interview to be published this Sunday here on IDMW. In this world of continuous movement, better have one’s own identity… That’s no surprisingly where are to be found Mood II Swing with their bumpin’ revamp of Shuya Okino featuring Diviniti’s ‘Shine’ carrying the distinctive elements which have made their trademark along the years. Louis Benedetti signing the perfect crime on the remix package of Bobbi D’Ambrosio featuring Arif ST Michael’s ‘Girl You Need A Change Of Mind’ and more precisely the hot and directive Club Mix over a hard and destructive bassline courtesy of Gene Perez (Soulshine Recordings). Hard to resist to the Doll Combers MonaLeslie Mix of Diva Down Entertainment’s ‘Praise Always’ with the ever inspired SuSu Bobien delivering the very best as usual for those into serious gospel house jams (Gotta Keep Faith). Meanwhile Fabio Tosti brings us back to the reputedly good ol’ days on his blues & jazzy inspired mix of ‘Take Me Down’ sharing the production duties alongside Logicalgroove featuring Savio Vurchio (Music Plan). See ya all next week for another delivery of unmissable cuts. Peace y’all. MFSB

Southport Weekender 43 November 7, 8, 9, 2008
Thank you for a superb Weekender
Well what can we say, but a massive thanks for making last weeks Southport such a memorable occasion, even the sun came out (unlike Billy's wallet at the bar). Podcasts and Streams
Again people have been busy recording various sets and our publicist Sarah Foote from Favouritizm's currently busy getting them all ready for drip feeding to yourselves as per last time so you can re live those Southport memories or bits you missed.
As it was so sunny we expect a lot of you won't have watched as much of our own on site TV as normal, so again we'll include a bunch of interviews etc for you to peruse, I know a certain Sue Davidson will thank us for this!!

We currently have our discs from our longstanding official photographer Colin Williams www.realtimemedia.net which are being worked on as we speak and our new friend Jae, Photos by Jae~www.MoonRisingNYC.com who I'm sure you'll all have seen about is to put it mildly sifting through about 1500 shots which she took, these will obviously take a while longer but Jae's aiming before the end of the month, then its over to Darryn the resident anorak for his side – so basically bear with us.

JedSet comes up with three different mixes: their funktified re-edit gives the track a deeply thumpin' vibe, while the 'Enchanted Day Mix' replaces the piano with melodic chords and strings. Lastly their 'Enchanted Evening Mix' is a wonderful reprise. Colin Sales provides a soulful Afro-beat driven reworking as well as the deep yet smooth 'StreetRave Tribute Remix'. U-Ness keeps things deep while adding some lovely middle eastern sounds. The 'Ambigua Remix' is a tougher affair for the big rooms, while the 'Audio Affinity Remix' is an energetic affair featuring a happy piano.
ARDUINI & PAGANY - "Show Me How Good" (Distar/CD Promo)
One of the highlights from the "WMC 2008 Promo" by Distar Records finally gets a full release. "Show Me How Good" by Arduini & Pagany is spreading an uplifting feeling through the soulful vocals and classic strings that are nicely arranged over a funked up house groove in the 'Philly Mix', while the 'Anthem Mix' features a catchy piano over a driving groove. Newly added to the package is a remix by Fabio Tosti that intensifies the vibe with a powerful groove and lush chords.
TODD TERRY ALL STARS featuring TARA McDONALD - "Get Down" (Remixes) (Strictly Rhythm/CD Promo)
Todd Terry's 2007 smash hit gets a new life right in time for the upcoming Summer with slammin' remixes. First is Warren Clarke who delivers a fresh reworking that is driven by a funktified groove and features a resistless piano that together with the uplifting vocals by Tara McDonald creates a feel-good vibe. Woody Bianchi drops a choice mix for the bigger rooms full of great breakdowns, catchy synths and a cool guitar, while Mousse T adds a deep dub on a techy edge to the package. Hot of the press come the Shapeshifters remixes that turn the track into an electro monster for the main floors.

In Da Mix: IDMW HEADLINES: 05/17/2008
|
Back to the forefront after the crash of a hard disk. The ransom of this technology led era with its obvious advantages and occasionally its inevitable… disadvantages. Had to do with or better say without it for almost a week. That’s the way life goes, with our deepest apologies for this unwanted interruption of our services…

IDMW HEADLINES 05/17/2008
With the progressive dematerialization of music, the vinyl format looks set to become a piece of art with the inevitable speculations that come with. IDMW correspondant in Japan, Yuu Oz brings us more introducing us with a specialist of the genre based on his native country…
Music & Words are pretty much what to be found here on IDMW. But how would they meet your attention without… Mathematics??? Surely not on Internet! A matter of languages we definitely gotta be familiar with, should we like to improve the quality of our respective websites…
A couple of years ago’s West End competition winner Jozana launching his own label with this funky bassline driven corker featuring vet singer Reggie Hall…
Ain’t nothing like the Philadelphia Sound. Another blatant demonstration given by The Trammps seen by many as the Disco band # 1 back in the daze!
Re expanding our coverage spectrum reviewise with the return of former IDMW columnist J’M Irie with a selection of some of the hottest grooves around available on Beatjoint…

Politics Of Dancing: A + B = X...
|

A + B = X…
To tell you the truth, never been found of the countless formulas of the likes and it’s primarly because I probably saw them as too abstract and obviously lacking of poetry back in my early school days… I guess I was then far from realizing how I would have to reconsider my position the way I’ve done over the last weeks when coming to deeply wonder about the way our plaform is working and what should be done in order to make it evolve the right way…
Don’t get me wrong though, as we’re still ways from havin’ everything sorted out. But at least, and with the inevitable amount of efforts that come with, the idea as to what IDMW 2.0 is going to have on offer is now clear with the rest due to become history within a few weeks/months time and a whole bunch of extra headaches in perspective…
Quite strange on such perspective to be pushed back to the beginning where you get yourself sort of in the shoes of a blank disk to be filled with the necessary programs before start being operational. Strange if not hard to say the least to get back to zero and therefore being put in the obligation to translate the whole – the way it is in regards to a new language with absolute no common point with the one you speak – before being able to express yourself. But so fascinating in the meantime as this allows to explore new territories. So if asking me about what makes A+B, I would probably respond by X, although I first gotta reach Z for the moment … Peace, MFSB

IDM News: NEW! BEATJOINTnugroove (SOUL, JAZZ, BREAKS, BROKEN BEATS + MORE…) # 1
|
More reviews, more genres represented here on IDMW with the big return of a man who was among its original editorial line up by the likes of J’M Irie as a part of our recent partnership deal with beatjoint.com.
BEATJOINTnugroove (SOUL, JAZZ, BREAKS, BROKEN BEATS + MORE…) # 1
Welcomin’ those of you joinin’ us on this Beatjoint news section. This week we go even deeper indeed as we are starting with a spotlight on – hear me now! - the complete catalogue of Basic Channel Records! Remember who brought back the classic reggae dub sounds of Wackies (check our blog section for a full focus on them)? Basic Channel did it! Say who? Basic Channel, the legendary minimal techno production team and record label, composed of Moritz Von Oswald and Mark Ernestus from Berlin… Always hidden in the shadow, remaining elusive as their music is… But they are still strong after 15 years of activity. We bring you no less but their extensive collection of essential dub techno releases (which had been - ever since it came out- rare and highly collectable items, vinyl-only tracks under various aliases that became some kind of holy Grail for many Detroit Techno and Dub appreciators to the point where it is regarded reverently like King Tubby or UR best works). The mysterious duo set up a studio in Berlin, in a building which was eventually the HQ of Mark Ernestus’ distributing company and shop Hard Wax, and the label's mastering studio Dubplates & Mastering, set up to ensure a unique sound with a desired dynamic quality for the vinyl. The Basic Channel imprint ceased business in 1995 (apart from two releases almost a decade later that were originally issued on Carl Craig's Planet E label), but were followed by a string of similar labels. Among the most important were Chain Reaction, which released non Von Oswald/Ernestus productions and helped launching the careers of dub-influenced minimal techno producers such as Monolake and Porter Ricks but also Basic Replay geared into reggae and dancehall re-issues. Main Street, for house-related releases. And Burial Mix and Rhythm & Sound which saw the duo's sound move away from the Detroit blueprint and get closer to vocal-lead dub and reggae. Their With The Artists album, released under the Rhythm & Sound banner featured celebrated reggae and dancehall vocalists such as Sugar Minott (not to mention all the aforementionned re-issues of Wackies).
Next up, as we announced you before right here comes Robert Owens on Michael Reinboth’s unstoppable Munich-based imprint Compost Records hitting us with a new album, Night-Time Stories”. On this splendid record, our man proves that he was and still is ever on point ever since the birth of house music in the early 80’s (he was the voice behind anthems like Mr Fingers’s “Can You Feel It?” or Franckie Knuckles “Tears”). To record his first artist album in ten years Owens has hooked up with Wahoo, Charles Webster, Jimpster, Atjazz and Kirk Degiorgio to create a beautiful soulful journey… Night times stories as sweet musical allegories that evolve from R&B to techno and a lot of deep house moods inbeetween.

We slow it down (like Brand Nubian used to say) with another voice to be reckon with… the man they call OlivierDaySoul (we were some of the very firsts to big up this singular soul singer. Also hold tight for a focus on him in our blog section very soon)… Now hear this all soul and beat headz, keep your ears widely opened as we keep digging somewhere far out and exuberant between Prince or Andre 3000/Outkast, Madlib, Wajeed and Flying Lotus… There gracely lies OlivierDaySoul from Washington DC! With a bad first album called “Kilowatt” on 4 Lux confirming his promissing vynil debut full of dope modern day soul songs (remember our recommandation for "Brain", a tight leftfield joint alla Spacek produced by him and Paulo. while the flipside "Potion 9" produced by Unknown explored more R&B territories). Well don’t you stop boucing and check this record produced by Oddisee, Unknown, Planet Mohawk, Hudson Mohawk, Paulo and the phunky polymorphic Dutch dude known as Gerd.
Also check out Eye Beta Rock’s “Super Rock Body Shock”. A great limited re-issue of an obscure disco synth bomb from the early 80's by Daryl Cameron. Includes a very nice Gerd dub. Just a 400 copies limited edition run, no repress. Electro-disco alert !
And again rejoice! Who said one can’t find nu soulful voices in the music game nowadays? Yet another one to show them wrong! Memorize this name: Middle Child. She’s teaming up with J.Rawls on a project simply named J.Rawls & Middle Child with an eponym album (here available in its prestigious Japanese edition). Spread the word: Middle Child is a golden voice from Youngstown, Ohio who hooked up with local producer, the very talented J.Rawls. Her voice is kind of reminiscent to India Arie and her lyrics are clever and catchy. For those connoisseurs who praise him for years to the average hip hop head-nodeer J.Rawls reminds us his great taste and diversity beatmaking wize, from making classic R&B to soft rock to hip-hop sampladelic jams. A lack of decent soul this year you said? Maybe on MTV Base‘s whack playlist but look further, there is more than meets the eye…like Rawls & Middle who definitely hit raw in the middle! Such as Nicolay & Kay from North Carolina. A dynamic hip-hop duo influenced by Tribe, De La Soul, The Jungle Brothers and the whole Native Tongues family… Hip hop like we’ll always love here with the release of their “Time:line” which is a concept record about the life cycle. Hard to sell? Well even with a great LP on BBE a few years ago, Nicolay still didn’t get a lot of mainstream attention but it won’t stop them, as striving dedicated indie artists they maximize on the quality of what they do and keep it up. Just like them we believe that true good music with integrity lasts longer than big disposable quantity. Support the cause!
An ethic close to DJ Buzz on a adequatly named label, Personal records. Having all those good examples in music history in mind, no matter if it is jazz, hip-hop, brazil, rocksteady or disco, the Personal team celebrate their ten year anniversary with DJ Buzz “In Between Blue & Black”. Their brand new recent release after a 4 year hiatus with some 7-Inch biz from DJ Buzz, well known as 1/3 of Austrian Hip-Hop/Funk/Electronic-Combo Waxolutionists and mastermind of the Supercity Soundsystem. The Waxolutionists Band with Rappers Deph Joe & Manuva and Musicians like the Twin Towas, etc... Too many names? Just let the music do the talking!
Let us also recommand you Metropolitan Jazz Affair’s MJA. Metropolitan Jazz Affair is the initial project from 3 main figures on the French jazz and soul scenes. They intend to dig a little deeper in a modern soul/jazz direction, without forgetting what it originally is: a music for the soul that can shake your legs! This album, originally released in 2003 is produced by Patchworks, a Lyon-based producer known for his collaborations on projects such as The Dynamics, Uptown Funk Empire and more! The crew features Stephane Ronget (also know as the Rongetz Fo undation) on trumpet and Benjamin Devigne on Pianos. Guest vocalist Mr Day is performing too on this record. He brings a soulful flavor to the MJA vibe ! This album was followed by a second one in 2007 on German label InfraCOM!
And we finish off with Mombasa’s “African Rhythms And Blues 2”. The group being a very respected afro-funk band created in 1976 by Lou Blackbun, Doug Lucas, Bob Reed, Don Ridgeway and Alan Tatham. This is here the seminal re-issue of their original second LP release: deep Afro jazz/funk by Lou Blackburn and his wicked group recorded 1976 in Germany - a top rare album originally released on German imprint Spiegelei label, containing the sought after DJ-spins "African Hustle", "Yenyeri" and "Shango II" then mastered this year from the master tapes, with original cover artwork, and re-released for the first time. Monster album! Far out we went, from dub techno to Afro-beat and beyond… roots & future we are for ever! So until next time: one love!

More Reviews
Exclusive Preview: THE MAXX - "Savin' Myself" (Mantree Records/CD Promo)
Rasmir presents some serious deepness here with "Savin' Myself" courtesy of The Maxx. The 'Deep Mix' is as deep as it gets and has a raw and funky underground feel to it, with stompin' beats and melodic keys leading the way for the sexy vocals and spaced-out synths. The 'Dub Mix' is great alteration with some extra funky elements and crazed-out keys. The 'Percussive Mix' puts the percussion elements and drums center stage to give the track a resistless tribalized feel. This very mix is taken to the next level on the 'UK Mix' which adds some hot funky flavors to it.
BEPPE GIOIA - "Untitled Fantasy" (CyberJamz Records/CD Promo)
Beppe Gioia returns to CyberJamz Records with the resistless "Untitled Fantasy" coming in three different flavors. The 'Main Mix' is a deep affair featuring a sexy catchy piano line, classic strings and sexy male vocals over thumpin' beats that altogether create a mesmerizing vibe on the dance floor. The 'Deep Dub Mix' goes deeper and gives the track a more minimalistic feel, with reduced piano parts while some wicked accordion riffs are added. Lastly the 'Lounge Mix' is beautiful downtempo with a jazzy touch.
Exclusive Preview: EDDIE NICHOLAS - "I know A Man" (CD-R)
Our man Eddie Nicholas returns to Spirit of House with yet another slammin' track. "I Know A Man" uses a deep'n'funky backing groove enriched with sweet percussion elements as playground for Nicholas' incomparable vocals, wicked synths and a phat organ ride. The result is a soulful yet absolutely irresistible track that is guaranteed to rock the dancefloors.
Vinyl Alert: GENE KING presents SACHA - "Changes" (Shelter Records 12")
We tend to forget about vinyl-only releases in the digital age we are living. This is exactly what happened to this beauty produced by Gene King that we completely overlooked when released in December of last year. "Changes" features a sensitive vocal by Sacha over a deep yet smooth groove enriched with sweet percussion and warm melodic keys. The 'Shelter Genetix Dub' takes things deeper, giving the track a resistless, slightly electrofied underground feeling. The 'R&B Mix' relaxes the vibe to give the track a more laidback feel, while the 'Reprise' adds some extra keys and funky flavors.
CIAPPY DJ & PABLO featuring SAVIO - "I Do Love" (DAE Deep Records/CD Promo)
The first release on the brand new DAE Deep imprint is courtesy of Ciappy DJ and Pablo who team up with singer Savio Vurchio on this wonderful production with a beautiful live orchestration full of lovely keys, jazzy sax and passionate vocals. The 'C&D Original R&B' version is a marvelous down tempo take perfect for those romantic moments. The ' Soul Live Elements Main Mix' takes the track to the soulful dance floors while keeping the vibe laidback and organic. Lastly the 'Ciappy DJ & Davide Murri Classfull Remix' is firing things up for some serious funk spiced peak time action.
Exclusive Preview: KEYSHIA COLE - "Work It Out" (Martin Faltin's Worked Out Remix)(CD-R) / INDIA ARIE - "Beautiful" (Martin Faltin's Give Me Some Energy Remix) (CD-R)
Martin Faltin is blessing us again with two classy reworkings. First is Keyshia Cole's beautiful "Work It Out" (from her 2007 Just Like You album) that is given a groovy makeover on funky tip that has a slightly dirty edge to it. Next is the acoustic "Beautiful" by India Arie (from her 2001 Acoustic Soul album) built around a stormin' beat that harmonizes perfectly with the acoustic guitar and lovely vocals.
NO AGE COMBO Vs. FABIO TOSTI featuring BIG MAMA - "Colors Of Love" (Music Plan Tracks/CD Promo)
Music Plan Tracks present a relentless track featuring sexy spoken words and vocals by Big Mama over a fiercely stompin' beat enriched with lush chords and synths. The 'MP Killa Dub' has an electronic edge to it, while the 'Colors Mix' replaces most of the vocals with strings and lovely keys. The 'Dubbin Clubbin' version is all about a catchy piano line over an irresistibly kickin' groove. Finally the 'Twinbeat Foggy Night Remix' is a deep and hypnotic affair that gets into electronic territory towards the end.
SLIM & SWIFT - "For You EP" (TriCircle Deep/CD Promo)
This slammin' EP lets you choose between four differently flavored deep house tracks. First up is "Beat The Street", a deeply stompin' track featuring phat electronic snyths and jazzy piano riffs that together create a hypnotizing vibe. "Dirty Disco" is on an old school flavored disco-funk tip with some great breakdowns included, while "Pretty Sucker" is a laidback deep house track with electronic synths perfect for late night / early morning play. Lastly there is "Keep It Coming" that is intensifying the vibe with deeply rumblin' groove and catchy keys.

In Da Mix: IDMW HEADLINES: 05/03/2008

Quite a hectic period for us here on IDMW over the last days, from a couple of disturbing bugs in our communication system (the dark side of technology) to the current construction of our new interface, the design of which is almost done, not to mention some networking project we’re currently working on with a handful of activists. IDM News: TraxsourceINDAMIX (HOUSE, GARAGE & OTHER ILLICIT GROOVES...) ISSUE # 8
|
Show must go on… As you may guess, nuttin’ good to expect when bein’ reminded those words taken from famous pop band Queen. And the fact is with our community once more affected with the recent loss of one of its members by the likes of the late K.T. Brooks who’s passed away some 10 days ago. Kind hard as well not to think of NYC vet DJ/producer DJ Camacho currently hospitalized and, as if wasn’t already enuff, facing hard times financially speakin’. Needless to say how your help will be greatly appreciated with donations to be forwarded to Leslie J. Jeudy 345 Bloomfield Avenue, Ste 2 Montclair, NJ 07042-3601 and any kind of recomforting message to be sent to our brother to the following address: C/o David Camacho (RM # 2408) St Barnabas Medical Center94 Old Short Hills Road Livingston, NJ 07039. This Issue # 08 is dedicated to both of’em with eternal love…

Can’t resist goin’ back to these words courtesy of Osunlade in regards to a recent affair of illegal share which has taken a part of our community by storm over the last days. Once again, let me humbly remind you how despite being quite e-z and tempting on occasions, whatever we may share belongs more likely to other people, meaning that we don’t have a single right on those files apart from using them as a media to listen to music or see images. Also, let’s never forget than whenever we individually spare money when sharing, it’s money that doesn’t go into the pocket of the one producing the music that we love, with the risk of killing them on a more or less short term. So needless to say once again how pretending to be a supporter of our scene means investing on it in order to keep it alive and, as a direct result, to have it blowing our minds, bodies & souls…

Exactly what happens as a matter of fact when listening to the sultry and stirring ‘Merry Go Round’ which sees US songstress Kimara Lovelace reaching absolute heights on this cool jazzy phonk atmospheric midtempo enlightened by ultra subtle arrangements courtesy of UK pair Sueno Soul. Can’t get my ears off this since I discovered it on Abicah Soul’s recent top 10 here on TS. Definitely to be featured on the 10 cuts who make my own merry go round dis year (Newlite Muzik). ‘Che va piano, va sano’ says famous Italian proverb. Three years have gone since Osunlade was given a demo by Maryland-based female singer Tamara Wellons who’s awaited debut-LP is to see the light in the coming weeks. A sign of obvious care in both the maturation of her undeniable talent and the concept of her album speakin’ of which we’re given another blatant proof with the new offshot from her album, ‘Like Rain’ left c/o a whole bunch of 1st class remixers incl. Abicah Soul, Lars Behrenroth, Nomumbah and Jihad Muhammad (Ocha Records). The latest addin’ a slice of melancholy if not darkness to the semantic meaning of the song both with a synth line reminiscent of Fingers Inc’s classic ‘Can You Feel It’ and jazzy plaintive piano parts. Vibrant, to say the least!
‘We Belong Together’… Here comes what could have easily become IDMW’s slogan as far as (good) music is concerned. As a matter of fact, it’s Donna Hidalgo’s latest offering giving her the opportunity to make her debut on hotter than hot Poji Records label this year. Good to have back to the forefront this talented lady after a couple of promising experiences back in the beginning of the nineties on this DJ Oji’s production showcasing the undeniable skills of DJ Buzzard on the remix duties… On that same stable, don’t you ever miss Una’s ‘The Weekender’ as remixed by Abicah Soul. Their reunion givin’ birth to a fascinating piece of frenzy deep lectro soul/funk. And da beat brilliantly goes on for NYC label Funk La Planet with the shining ‘Lion In Cage’ by French pair Alex Finkin & Reverend P featuring Jocelyn Mathieu customized with the right ingredients to make it a festive sure shot winner by the ever inspired Jon Cutler who’s added a killer synth line.

Although nothing really new, in terms of inspiration Carlos Rubio’s ‘Una Familia’ is a brilliant tribute to the so called Philly Sound and those incredible arrangements which make it as timeless back then delivered by Vincent Montana Jr. And here we go with a radiant extrapolation of MFSB’s ‘Love Is The Message’/Salsoul Orchestra’s ‘Love Break’ with lush key jazzy arrangements courtesy of Davide Marani. Bravissimo signori (Distar). At the opposite end is the deep acidic-influenced ‘Digilove’ by Jeremias Santiago displayin’ a sort of plaintive emphasis over lectro bleepylike keys, reminicent of the early 90’s UK sound (FTL). Ever prolific Franck Roger does it again on his latest 2 tracker goin’ abstract garagey on ‘Klubhead’ with my preference goin’ to the Giorgio Moroder-influenced ‘Gigolo’ touching the deeper heights with its emphatic synth lines (Real Tone).
No need havin’ a wide angle lens on your camera to realize how things fit as far as music is concerned. Just see how people are bumpin’ their heads while havin’ a drink and you’ll have the beginning of an answer. Alton Miller’s ‘Together’ is nuttin’ but one of those grooves which captures the listener with the ability to transform it into an all-night long dance with a single click on a button, from the very first note. Nothing really complicated though: just the right elements at the right place! A cool bongo-driven beat, some lush key/synth arrangements used as a rhythm line, an infectious phonky bassline, a sensitive interpretation with warm lyrics, being for much on the intimacy of this cool groover. In other words what I’d be tempted to consider it a irresistibly seductive slice of modern soul (Seed Recordings). Back from a recent trip to his native Africa and currently working on his awaited debut album to be released later this year, Boddhi Satva delivers another blatant illustration of his mixed background, twistin’ African chants with bits’n’bops inherited from the local folkore over lectrosynthesized FX. All of this givin’ birth to a deep-notizing environment such as the insane ‘Stop Black Magic’ opening the package. ‘The Depth Of The Source’ getting even deeper with Yuba on the MC’s seat delivering an incantation over an infectious jam leadin’ straight to the epicenter of a cross-bred universe melding 2 different cultures, but also 2 different periods (if not much more) - and, as a direct consequence, different flavors - together as one. Satva affirming his identity like he’s probably never done before and that’s pretty much what we like…
More to come in a fortnight with TraxsourceINDAMIX now available both on Spiritofhouse.com and udmshow in addition to IDMW. Peace y’all. MFSB
